Customer Review Summary
Chow mein is the dish reviewers name most, and opinions split on it. One calls it sublime alongside the chicken curry, another finds it greasy, and a third wants more vegetables in it. Prawn toast is described as the best one diner has tasted, and the hors d'oeuvres for two, salt and pepper ribs and hot and sour soup, full of flavour, also earn praise. Several describe hot food, large portions and a friendly, polite person on the counter, and one says it puts the two takeaways in Pembury to shame. The complaints centre on seasoning and substance. Reviewers report tasteless egg fried rice, vegetable noodles with no vegetables, special fried rice that was mostly chicken, and salt and pepper chips that were just seasoned chips rather than wok fried. One is let down by cash only payment. Another finds service slow even after pre-ordering and being given a pick up time.

“Cracking little Chinese this one. I used to come here when I was younger and loved the food. We recently started coming here again after moving and still can't fault it. The girl is friendly and polite on the counter, the food is lovely and also large portions and also quick. It puts the two in Pembury to shame. We love coming here now and we'll continue to use it.”

“We have recently switched to this Chinese and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. The food is so delicious, always hot and full of flavour. We never find it greasy or feeling sluggish after. Great value for money and always the friendliest service. Best Chinese food”

“As someone else said, I was reluctant to right this review, but it was this or environmental health. I could of asked for my money back, but if the chef is turning out food like this, they aren't going to admit their food is bad. I will start with the ok stuff and the reason I gave 2 stars. The salt and pepper ribs were good and a good size portion. As were the prawn crackers. Chicken chow mein was greasy and I'm not sure what oil you are using, possibly the oil out of the frier, by the taste of it. Special fried rice was far from special, it was mostly chicken. We did manage to find a few shrimp and if there was any other meat, it was unrecognisable. It also tasted and looked like they'd used the same old oil as the chow mein. The pork dish was ok but only just. You need to know we are far from fussy eaters and have big appetites, otherwise most of it would of been thrown in the bin. Now this is the reason why I wrote this review and the reason I nearly went to environmental health. Squid in black bean sauce. I love black bean sauce and covered the brown looking rice with it. I took a mouthful with a piece of squid and with 2 chews, I spat it in the tray from which it came. It was sour and fishy! I would say maybe 1 day form being dangerous. My son saw my reaction and did the same. He said "I thought it smelt a bit wrong." I know your not using fresh squid, even though they are still in season at the moment. So the frozen squid you use, surely they are cheap enough, to bin the suspect ingredients. Shame on your chef, could you not smell that, as you were cooking it? You are welcome to reply to this shocking review.”

“Fantastic food at great price. Service can be a bit slow, even after pre-ordering and given a pick up time. Waiting area is like most Chinese takeaways.”
