About China Chef
China Chef is a Chinese takeaway at 6 Egremont Rd in Maidstone. The kitchen cooks Chinese cuisine, and its menu includes chicken balls, which come with a sweet and sour dip. Curry dishes sit on the same menu, with beef curry and chicken curry among the choices. Between a dipped chicken starter and two curry options, the menu gives a short, clear order to build a takeaway meal around, all prepared in the one kitchen.

Customer Review Summary
Chicken balls come up most, crispy and full of chicken for one diner, though another found them overcooked on a single occasion. Satay chicken skewers draw strong praise, the beef curry is called tasty, and the seafood is liked for its variety of fish. Happier reviewers describe food arriving piping hot, with quick delivery and a fast collection even on a large order. Complaints about the counter staff recur, with several calling them rude, while one mentions a friendlier team member on earlier visits. Others report slow service, including a phone order read back wrongly and food arriving luke warm hours after it was placed, and a single hot and sour soup that took a long wait. Critics also describe bland, oily dishes, chicken curry and chicken in black bean sauce that was not cooked properly, and vegetable spring rolls practically empty of vegetables, a problem one diner says affected most of them.

“Very disappointed to say the food we had tonight was bland and oily. Also the vegetable spring rolls were practically empty of vegetables. I thought maybe it was just a one off but sadly not, most of them were the same.”

“I usually get a delivery as I did tonight. The food is always top quality. I think there was only one time when I wasn't happy because the chicken balls were over cooked, probably out of 50 meals. It can't be perfect every time. It is expensive but definitely worth it. Xx”

“I honestly don’t know what to say. Had this last night and it was absolutely disgusting. We couldn’t eat it, my partner ordered kung po prawns and god knows what he got but it looked smelled and tasted vile. Wouldn’t have fed it to a dog it went in the bin with the rest of the food. Wasn’t nice at all used to be good but I won’t be coming back as last night made us feel ill over looking at it god knows how ill we would’ve been if we had eaten it.”
