  “Used this takeaway for years and has always been loverly BUT we orders last night I can’t have peas and the person on the phone even said to me no peas in any dishes I said Thanku that right Wel ther was peas in everything but it took 15 mins from the time I ordered to arriving in my kitchen and we are about 10 mins away sadly it was discusting I’m thinking pre cooked and frozen so microwaved to be Abel To get to me so quick I def won’t be ordering again it really was awfull food”

  “Used to be the best Chinese in Tunbridge wells prior to changing ownership, since then it is awful, avoid, food was pretty much not edible phoned as part of the order was wrong, just got excuses saying that’s how it comes…if looking at the reviews, filter to latest…gives you a true picture”

  “Absolutely disgusting, weve been using happy friar for many years through many of the new owners, i have to say this is probably the worst its been under new ownership. we ordered our food at 6:33 & was told it'll be 45 mins -1hr for delivery, only to get it 1hr 40mins later after several phone calls to chase it. Upon arrival the driver was rude but did apologise for delay on their behalf. We had to completely reheat everything as was very cold & didn't taste nice at all. Phoned again to complain abt the situation only to fall on deaf ears, I told them this is not acceptable & as from now on we wouldn't be using them anymore & going else where. Guess what, not even an apology. Anybody reading this, I would strongly suggest to use somebody else.”

  “Ordered our food at 5.45pm and it still hadn't arrived at 19.45. Rang them twice and was told it was out for delivery. We need up cancelling as it would have ended up being cold when it arrived. Was told that it was under new management. So please beware. Prices are higher than a lot of other chinese take always too. Not happy at all!!”

  “Went into the shop and was served quickly, only took about 15 minutes for our food to come out. Was so delicious! We ordered plain chow mein, salt & chilli ribs, crispy shredded beef, mini spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken balls, egg fried rice, all perfect! no complaints at all. Recommend definitely, very lovely people.”

  “We have only just recently started to order from here and I have to say we are hugely impressed! I always get the meal for one and they accommodate me by swapping the starter for something else! The food arrives piping hot and the food is of a top quality its not overly salty like other chinese takeaways who over do it! Fresh food and great portions! We love you guys and will be ordering from you tonight! All the best ‘38a’ xxx”

  “We ordered from Happy Friar last night.. good food.. long wait for delivery.. when phoned to see where our food was, they were not sure when the driver left with it.. would not let you get a word in edge ways when asking where our order was! But we enjoyed our meal.”

  “Came the first time and was surprised to have Kung Po chicken with nothing but chicken and carrots. Never had anything like that before. If you have a carrot obsession. it’s a dish for you. I prefer it more traditional with onions and peppers etc. They’ve got a new menu now which does advise it’s a carrot dish. Had the large homemade pancake roll both times, which I enjoyed. Had Sweet & Sour Chicken Hong Style last night which was okay. If like me you’ve been avoiding this place for years as it used to leave you with a dodgy stomach - fear not. It’s safe to return and there is no need to travel far and wide for your Chinese anymore. Thank you Happy Friar for bringing a decent Chinese back.”
