Customer Review Summary
Off the roast menu, one reviewer enjoyed the Hunters Chicken and a vegetable tart, while others found a southern fried chicken burger dry and chicken goujons as hard as a brick. Staff are often called friendly and welcoming, though one Sunday visit had a single person handling all drinks and food orders. Reviewers like the beams, the garden with its children's play area, and dogs being welcome. One suggests booking for weekends, and another found portions so large they left half.

“Visited recently for meals and drinks. The service was nice and friendly. Toilets were clean. The pub itself was lovely, very cosy - but if you are tall mind your head! The food was lovely but the portions are humongous! I normally clear a plate but I left half. Beautiful just very big.”

“We booked a table for a Birthday carvery for a family of 9 people in the evening as it stated carvery 12-8pm as last time we went for mother's day we enjoyed it. This time round we were all very disappointed. They had no gammon left hardly any pork left. The Roast potatoes did not taste nice hardly any vegetables and no cauliflower cheese! The food was cold plus the hot drinks. We had 1 child who had the children's sausage and chips this time round and hardly had any chips on the plate (not good for a junior) The price we all paid for food and drinks were not a good value! We were all disappointed. The only good thing I can say is we had a room to ourselves.”

“Stopped off here as we have been to the pub last year and found it to be nice atmosphere and food was nice landlord was friendly. On going this time we sat outside with our dogs. I couldn’t comment on atmosphere as I said we were outside. Took a while to order food and it was Sunday staff organisation wasn’t good. One person serving drinks and taking food orders meaning you had to wait to order especially when someone has ordered 8 drinks and meals so had to wait for all drinks to be poured by one and only person behind the bar. We were very disappointed with our meal. The southern fried chicken burger was very poor. It had two chicken fillets which I would say is like basic supermarket own brand over cooked and dry. Brioche buns were not toasted and lettuce was poor and scarce / wilted chips were basic . No mayonnaise or sauces on the burger. Very dry and bland. We eat out a lot of places as we like days out and from a year ago to now big difference. I know it’s been taken over but standard of food was poor in my eyes if you have an educated palate”

“Stopping over at a nearby touring site we noted this Inn as a potential place to eat. Called in on a Wednesday evening and it was BOGOF on main courses. Really enjoyed the Hunters Chicken and my wife enjoyed her vegetable tart as well. Service was quick and the staff were efficient and polite. Highly recommended and a place we’ll look to use again if we’re ever in the area.”

“The food was not very good really. We went on a non-roast day. Their roasts are terrific. Sadly, the food on a Saturday was not. Chicken goujons were as hard as a brick. The burger (Big Boy or something like that) didn't taste of a lot considering its ingredients. My guests had mixed opinions on their dishes. Disappointed. Roasts next time.”
