Quick info
About The Suffolk Arms
The Suffolk Arms is a pub in Cheltenham, set in a Grade II listed former coach house dating back to 1824 at 40 Suffolk Rd. Real ales are on the bar, and the kitchen cooks seasonal, housemade pub food in an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs. The Sunday roast comes with lamb, beef, or a pork and chicken duo, plus cauliflower cheese, stuffing, crackling and greens. The Suffolk burger is topped with cheese, gherkins, smoked bacon and burger jam, and the sticky toffee pudding is served with vanilla ice cream. A two-course lunch menu is also available, and happy hour deals with cocktails run from Wednesday to Friday. Dogs are welcome.

“Really delicious food, amazing service and a lovely atmosphere. Found out it was recently under new management and they are doing a brilliant job. Loved the touch of having specials that they recommended too.”

“Visiting all the way from Wilmington, NC, we were thrilled to stumble upon this absolute gem! The Suffolk Arms perfectly captures that great, classic British pub vibe, and it has the deep roots to match—this Grade II listed building has been serving locals and travelers since at least 1824 when it originally operated as a historic coach house. The hospitality we experienced here was absolutely fantastic. We came in with a massive order, and both the owner and the chef were incredibly accommodating, turning out absolutely incredible food for our entire group. The service was top-notch, and the warm, lively atmosphere made it easy to lose track of time. We even ended up meeting a wonderful local couple and sharing a truly charming conversation over our meal. It's the perfect mix of historic character and world-class, welcoming service. A must-visit when you're in Cheltenham!”

“The empty cold pub serves a two course lunch menu . The small entrees were delivered after a cooking lesson for the staff , the mains sat on the hot plate for 8 mins while the same thing happened whilst my sole was being discussed. The very small lamb was unattractive and cool and my 80 grams of sole was dry , accompanied by a smear of something and an unidentifiable half raw on one side potato? It was difficult to tell . What a shame! If the chef had shown the same level of interest in the food preparation and delivery as he did the waitress, ( he delivered samples of food to her as we waited) then perhaps 🤔 it would have been better. Best to avoid,”
