About Sandford Park Alehouse

Sandford Park Alehouse is a pub at 20 High St in Cheltenham, open daily, with 10 real ale pumps and 16 keg lines behind the bar. Rotating and fixed beers sit alongside ciders, bottles, wines and spirits, and the staff let you sample before you choose. The pub is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. On the food side, Sunday lunch includes a shared roast platter of beef, pork belly and chicken with yorkies, cauliflower cheese and a jug of gravy, and Wednesday brings a pie and ale special with meat, chicken or vegan pies. Indoors, a large bar and a snug with a log fire share the space, and a large south-facing garden sits outside. A function room takes parties and private hire, and large groups can book tables in advance, with table service and separate tabs. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary

Beer is the main draw, with diners repeatedly praising the range of rotating and fixed real ales and ciders, and staff who know what is on and offer samples. Food comes close behind, especially Sunday lunch. One couple describes a shared roast platter of medium rare beef, pork belly and chicken with fresh yorkies, cauliflower cheese and a big jug of gravy. A group of 30 with lots of children reports separate tabs and table service. Others mention a Wednesday pie and ale special with meat, chicken and vegan options, and fish and chips called reasonably priced. Reviewers also like the large garden and outside seating, the traditional pub feel and the dog friendly welcome. The one complaint is from a reviewer who finds it a little chilly inside at times, even with the log fire lit. One reviewer found booking ahead a great idea on a match night when the pub was completely full, and another says to look out for the specials. One large visiting group even got a visit from the chef.

“My partner and I had a lovely experience at Sanford Park Alehouse while watching the England vs. Argentina game. We booked a table in advance, which turned out to be a great idea as the pub was completely full that evening. We enjoyed a selection of beers, ciders, food and desserts. They have an excellent range of beers and ciders to choose from. Despite the pub being absolutely packed, the staff did a fantastic job managing the crowds and keeping the food and drink ordering process smooth and efficient. I just wanted to compliment the team for their excellent organisation and friendly service, it really made for a great evening!”

“What a fantastic Sunday lunch! The food was absolutely delicious — you can tell there's real talent in the kitchen, with top quality ingredients used throughout. But what made the experience truly special was Jess. Her care, energy, and enthusiasm elevated the whole visit — she went above and beyond with her service and it didn't go unnoticed. Exceptional hospitality like that is rare, and it's clear she genuinely loves what she does. Highly recommend — can't wait to come back!”
