About Lounge 72
Lounge 72 is a bar in Cheltenham, on High St, built around seven American pool tables for groups of friends and competitive players alike. Guests can take on the barman in the Beat the Barman challenge and win drinks if they come out ahead. Behind the bar, the drinks list includes cocktails and fruity drinks, and the staff will recommend something if you are unsure what to order. Music plays through the night, and the bar opens daily and runs late, which suits an evening that ends here. Door staff control entry.

Customer Review Summary
Bar staff are the main draw, with several reviewers describing bartenders who help choose drinks, including one who steered a group toward fruity options and another who talked a customer into trying a couple of different cocktails. Reviewers call the staff friendly and quick, even on a busy Saturday night, and describe the venue as clean and well maintained. Beat the Barman is called great, alongside a discount on drinks, and one reviewer names it a go-to spot any day of the week. Others mention cool music, a great vibe, and a place to start or end a night. Three reviewers are critical. One was refused entry by a doorman who gave no explanation. Another says a pool table took payment but did not release the balls, and that the staff member told about it argued instead of fixing the problem. A third found the bottom bar unmanned on a bank holiday Monday, with the pumps lit and measures laid out on mats on the back bar.

“⭐☆☆☆☆ I’ve been here several times before and never had an issue, but this visit was enough to put me off coming back. I was refused entry for no apparent reason by the doorman, who seemed to be on a power trip and couldn’t be bothered to give any explanation beyond acting dismissively. If there’s a legitimate reason to refuse entry, that’s absolutely fine. But making arbitrary decisions and treating paying customers like they’re an inconvenience isn’t a good look. It’s a shame, because the venue itself is decent—the attitude of one member of staff completely ruined the experience. I’d recommend spending your money somewhere that values customers and has door staff who know how to treat people with a basic level of respect.”

“Place use to be banging but recently over new staff working there with poor attitudes. Currently doing a scheme on the pool tables where you play a few games all is good then you try again and pay it takes your money but doesn’t release the balls. Told the lady about it today and she tried to have an argument instead of solving the mistake. Not all the staff are bad eggs there but that one needs to work on the communication skills with customers”
