About The Exmouth Arms
The Exmouth Arms is a pub in Cheltenham at 167 Bath Rd, with an outdoor pizza oven in the garden. The kitchen cooks mains that run from burgers to Thai curries, and live music is on the programme regularly. At the bar, real ale is on tap with a rotation of guest ales, and bottled beers are available alongside the draught. Groups can use the private dining room, and the upstairs room is hired out for functions, meetings and wakes. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the garden, a large pub garden and a courtyard with an outdoor pizza oven, alongside the beer, from real ale and rotating guest ales to a good tap and bottle selection. Food draws praise for the braised beef with bacon and mash, the key lime pie, the sticky toffee pudding, and the sausage rolls and vegetarian quiche served at a funeral wake. Several describe the upstairs room hosting a birthday and a wake, with helpful, accommodating staff who handled the booking, menu and setup. The criticism is specific. One diner found a Sunday roast with rubber-tough meat, reheated-tasting potatoes, thin gravy and hard Yorkshire puddings, though they still called the staff nice. Another called the garden pizza bland and like a frozen store-bought one, and described a single person behind the bar and beer in plastic glasses from the horsebox bar, which sent drinkers inside to even slower service. Others praise the bar staff as welcoming, and one reviewer notes dogs are welcome and there is no loud music, with quiz nights adding to the cheerful mood.

“had the most amazing birthday celebrations with my friends and family. I felt the service from the moment we contacted The Exmouth Arms was outstanding! At all stages I found them to be very helpful, supportive and accommodating with what I wanted. The food was delicious, sandwiches and chips, incredibly tasty and VERY fresh (I am actually very fussy about sandwiches being fresh) I had the room all day but different guests at night. They kindly offered to move the room around for me, cut up and displayed my cakes and set the beautifully for the evening. I was concerned about wait times at the bar, I didn’t need to service was very efficient and limited waiting. I booked the Exmouth Arms because my original venue cancelled me last minute, I find myself very glad they did as I now believe my 50th birthday celebrations were made perfect by the team at The Exmouth Arms. I highly recommend and will definitely use again. Thank you so much for everything 🥳”

“I booked the upstairs room for my mother’s funeral wake on 4th August. I was really impressed with how you handled everything from the initial booking, choosing a menu and agreeing numbers through to the event itself when the food was excellent and your staff were friendly, helpful and extremely professional. A funeral is a very stressful occasion and The Exmouth really made things as easy as possible which I really appreciated. Particular thanks go to Tor who dealt with the booking and was extremely patient whilst I dithered over guest numbers and what food to order. The sausage rolls and the vegetarian quiche I added to “Option one” were delicious and commented upon by many of the guests. Also a big thank you to Poppy and her team on Tuesday who handled everything so efficiently.”

“Came into this amazing pub tonight and we got talking to one of the bar staff who was collecting glasses! He was so lovely and really represents the pub well. I think his name was Charlie, but don’t quote me on that! But just wanted to leave a note saying we felt so welcomed and that he was really lovely! Xxx”

“We only had drinks and they were great 👍 The pub has got a great outdoor space to sit, especially when it's sunny. They also have an outdoor pizza oven but we didn't manage to try it. Maybe next time”

“Lovely place with large pub garden. Food was really good and portions very generous. Good selection on tap and plenty of bottles to choose from. Great space upstairs for meetings and small functions. We will be back.”
