Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most mentions, with reviewers choosing from beef, lamb, pork and turkey and calling the lamb roast beautifully presented and the plate of food outstanding. Close behind are the tapas night, where the chimichurri sauce stands out, and the burger, which one diner calls among the best they have had in a long time. The biscoff cheesecake and the gluten free fish and chips also get named, along with ribs and halloumi fries. Reviewers describe the staff as friendly and welcoming, and the pub as cosy and relaxed, with locals who are friendly too. Several mention dogs being welcome, including a bowl of water offered for one, and one notes how accommodating the pub is with children. No complaints recur in the reviews. One reviewer recalls the kitchen had already closed when a friend asked about halloumi fries for a pregnant partner, and the staff made them anyway and added some extras.

“Some of the best food in Wiltshire, and an excellent Sunday roast (choose from beef, lamb, pork, turkey). The owners are lovely and staff all very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend a visit to this dog friendly traditional country pub.”

“Burger we had was one of the best we've had in a long time. Service and other customers/locals were friendly and welcoming. Great experience especially on a crazy traffic day after bad accidents and truck breakdown 🙃”

“What a great pub! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is just stunning (great portions too!). The menu is always a bit different but their "classics" are always present, like the gluten free fish and chips. Plenty of gluten free options by the way. Just wanted to add that one evening I wanted to pick up some delicious halloumi fries for my pregnant partner who was craving them at home, but I waited too long to order them and the kitchen was already closed. When a friend mentioned it to the staff they went out of their way to make them for her anyway and even added some extras. I love this pub and it is definitely my go-to pub for food, atmosphere... everything!”

“I ate at the New Calley Arms yesterday with some friends who were visiting the area after hearing many rave reviews about the food - and we were not disappointed at all! The food portions are very generous and the quality of every single dish was outstanding. There is clearly a michelin starred chef hiding in the kitchen somewhere, and his efforts are upheld by the extremely friendly and attentive staff who waited on our table. My friends said they want to come here every time they visit and bring their parents next time. How is it possible that a small pub leave such a big impression?”
