About The Blunsdon Arms

The Blunsdon Arms is a pub in Swindon, set off Lady Lane and run as an Ember Inn. Live music and a quiz night give regulars something to do beyond the meal, and sport is shown on screen for people who come to watch a match. The kitchen serves pub dishes such as lasagne and burgers, with toffee apple tart for dessert, and a set menu promotion runs as an option. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring their pets along. The pub also has an outside bar for warm weather.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise friendly, welcoming staff, with several singling out individual team members who go out of their way, alongside food they call great for the price. The lasagne and the salmon are named as highlights, while a burger is called decent but not memorable. Live music on Saturday nights, a quiz night and big football matches draw regulars and groups, and reviewers like the plentiful seating inside and out, including a popular outside bar. Dogs and children are welcome, and one reviewer suggests booking at weekends because it gets very busy. The complaints centre on consistency. One diner found the chicken tenders and toffee apple tart poorly done, with small portions, drinks in plastic cups, slow service and a noisy bar that made ordering confusing. Their order was put through incorrectly and they were overcharged, which was only put right after speaking with the manager on a later visit. Another found many grill items unavailable and the sharing platter small for its price, though the service and seating were very good.

“Nice enough pub with decent food. The staff never look particularly happy, but they're all polite and service is speedy even when busy. We went for the quiz and had a laugh, so would probably head back there again at some point.”

“I come here a lot. The food is great, Saturday nights have live music. You know you come here too much when the staff like Brad knows your order. Staff like Brad make the place, friendly, happy and personable.”

“We visited The Blunsdon Arms after hearing great things about the food and decided to book a table to watch the World Cup final. We called ahead to reserve a table, and the person we spoke to was professional, friendly, and polite, which gave us a great first impression. When we arrived, our reserved table was ready, and the atmosphere was excellent. The seating was comfortable, and it was a great place to watch the match. Unfortunately, things became a little disappointing when it came to the food. A large number of items from the grill were unavailable, and the remaining menu options didn't really appeal to us. We ended up ordering the sharing platter, but the portions felt quite small for the price. We also tried the burger, which was decent but nothing particularly memorable, while the salmon was enjoyable and probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, we left feeling a little disappointed given the recommendations we'd received. The ambience, seating, and service were all very good, but the limited menu availability and value for money on the food let the experience down. We'd consider returning, but hopefully with the full menu available next time.”

“We enjoy visiting this lovely pub. Food can be hit or miss but for the price you can’t argue! Staff is always welcoming. They also offer good selection for childhood and dogs are welcome!”
  • Rachel Gleed
“Had a fantastic experience at this pub. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food and drinks were excellent, and the service really stood out. Aaron was a great asset to the place—friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everyone was looked after. His positive attitude and professionalism made our visit even more enjoyable. It’s staff members like Aaron that keep customers coming back. Highly recommended!”
