About The Kingsdown

At 1 Kingsdown Rd in Swindon, The Kingsdown is a pub that also runs as a restaurant, so drinkers and diners are served under the same roof. Dogs are welcome, which makes it a stop that walkers can bring a companion into rather than tie up outside. The pub side and the dining side sit together, so a visit can be a drink at the bar or a sit-down meal from the kitchen. It carries both a Pub and a Restaurant classification in the directory, and the address places it on Kingsdown Rd.

Customer Review Summary

The friendly welcome draws the most mention, with a walkable local pub, polite, professional staff, and nice food at a reasonable price. One reviewer praises the beer. A less happy diner found the ploughman's cut back to tasteless cheddar and ham with no apple, served on a plate rather than the lovely slate, and the part baked baguette never hot.

“Within the space of 5 weeks of having the ploughman’s, it’s gone from £10 to £13, not a problem really, but it came with a huge reduction of what you got, went from Brie, blue cheese cheddar and ham, to cheddar (tasteless) and ham, no apple, so 30% increase for 30% less food… umm… served on a plate instead of the lovely slate.. and the part baked baguette not hot ever, and needed cooking…”
