About Cafe 449

Cafe 449 is a cafe on Llangyfelach Rd in Swansea, built around cooked breakfasts that come in more than one size. A medium sits between the options, so diners can match the portion to their appetite, and servings run generously large. Coffee is poured alongside the plates. The room is small, with a limited number of seats and a counter where the staff work. Tables are taken on a walk-in basis rather than by reservation, so there is no booking to arrange before arriving. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without a kerb or stair to negotiate. The kitchen runs Tuesday to Saturday during the daytime, with Mondays and Sundays closed, which makes it a morning and midday stop rather than an evening one.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is the draw for nearly every reviewer, and the sautéed potatoes are singled out as very nice and too plentiful to finish. Another diner pictures a medium breakfast and calls the portion spot on. Reviewers repeatedly mention big portions, good quality meat, and well-priced plates, and one says the breakfast was cooked to their taste. Coffee is called lovely, and one visitor stopped in for a cuppa and brekkie while the car was in for a service. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful, with the person behind the counter praised more than once. The room is small but comfortable, airy, and relaxed, and one reviewer who visited when it was quiet was served quickly. The only friction is secondhand. A reviewer refers to another customer's complaint about being charged for using the café's electricity to run a laptop for hours while ordering only coffee and water. Another reviewer watched the counter staff thoroughly clean the table area after customers left.

“We were passing town and wanted to stop for breakfast. We stumbled upon this place on Google and decided to go in for a bite. Not seeing any customers inside made me doubt their food. But this place is underrated in my opinion. The food is extremely amazing and the prices are very reasonable. Everything that we ordered was tasty and the quantity was very good and filling. The service also was very good with very nice service. All in all amazing experience. This should be the first choice of place to eat for everyone who wants to grab a bite in this town.”
