About Govinda's Swansea
On Craddock St in Swansea, Govinda's Swansea is a vegetarian cafe that doubles as a meditation space, with evenings run by Hare Krishna devotees for meditation sessions and other spiritual events. The kitchen cooks vegetarian and vegan food, with plenty of vegan options on the menu. The thali plate is a main option for a full meal. Homemade cakes, including eggless ones, can be eaten in or taken away. Hot drinks cover teas, coffees and hot chocolate, and there is mango lassi for something cold. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along. A shop area inside the cafe sits alongside the tables.

Customer Review Summary
Homemade cake is the most repeated draw, with reviewers calling the slices fresh and full of flavour, and one diner taking a cake to go that they found incredible. Close behind is the thali, described as excellent, while others single out the dosa plate, a mango lassi, and a hot chocolate so good one diner ordered two. The teas and coffees are called lovely and made with care, and one reviewer who tried the all you can eat set went through several plates. Food is repeatedly described as delicious, reasonably priced and good for vegans, served in a peaceful, calm space with warm, friendly staff and meditation evenings. The recurring caveat is that the cafe was still being rebuilt when some visited. One reviewer found it under construction in August, another hopes to see it become a full café again, and a visitor was offered a taste of a pakora platter still being developed for the menu. One returning diner, back after twenty months away, now calls it their go to restaurant in Swansea.

“Located on Craddock Street in the heart of the city center, Govinda's Swansea is a long-standing culinary gem offering a welcoming and serene dining experience. Run by the Hare Krishna community, this charming vegetarian and vegan cafe has built a stellar reputation over two decades for serving wholesome, soul-nourishing meals made with fresh ingredients and genuine care. The menu blends traditional Indian flavors with international influences, featuring hearty thali plates, flavorful curries, freshly baked savories, wholesome burgers, and vibrant salads. The traditional thali is a crowd favorite, offering a well-balanced plate of varied dishes, fragrant rice, and freshly baked bread. Dessert lovers are equally well catered to with an assortment of eggless cakes, vegan treats, and rich hot drinks. Generous portion sizes and very affordable pricing make it an accessible option for students, locals, and visitors alike. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is calm, bright, and peaceful, staffed by friendly devotees who make every visitor feel immediately at home. In addition to functioning as an eatery, the space acts as a spiritual hub, hosting weekly mantra meditation, wisdom talks, and community events. Whether you are a committed vegan, a vegetarian, or simply someone looking for a nourishing, high-value meal in a relaxed environment, Govinda's Swansea offers a unique and uplifting dining experience.”

“I hadn't visited this place since before COVID and was excited to learn it opened again. It took a while to visit since I don't live so close anymore. The atmosphere is chilled and the staff are warm and welcoming. Food is delicious and reasonably priced and importantly vegan. We all had the thali which was excellent. The hot chocolate was so good I had 2. Took a cake to go and also incredible. Can't fault it. We will be back.”
