About The Three Crowns

The Three Crowns is a British gastropub on Lichfield Rd in Stone, part-thatched with oak beams and an open fire. The kitchen runs a menu of around 20 dishes, with sea bass and fish and chips alongside a pint of beer at the bar. Table service brings food to the room, and reservations are recommended. Outdoor seating extends the dining area outside, and the step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs. Dogs are welcome in the dining areas, and food is also available for takeaway. The pub opens daily. Around Christmas, the kitchen puts on a traditional Christmas dinner menu, with Christmas pudding served alongside the log fire that runs through the rest of the year.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday roasts draw repeat praise, with turkey, lamb, and a Christmas pudding singled out as standouts, and the wood burning fire and cosy, homely atmosphere come up again and again alongside consistently friendly, helpful staff. Several diners describe temperature and consistency problems though: cold beef with thin gravy and unpeeled vegetables in one visit, only warm mains (ribeye steak and chicken burger) in another with no adjustment offered on the bill, and a Christmas dinner beef wellington that had to be swapped for pork after arriving below standard. One regular reviewer criticizes the menu as unchanged for years and objects to dogs being allowed in the dining area, while another notes tables left uncleared outdoors led to a wasp problem. When kitchen mishaps do occur, staff have sometimes remedied them on the spot, as with the swapped Christmas dinner mains.

The three crowns is our local and we visit regularly. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The menu sadly let's the place down. It's been the same menu for years and drastically needs changing. The other major down fall is they allow dogs in the dining areas which to me is really disgusting. The pub is a traditional thatch roofed pub with log fires and I always think it could be so much better. To make it better I'd definitely change the menu and ban dogs. To me there is absolutely no need whatsoever to take a dog in a restaurant.

Booked a last minute table for Sunday lunch , having not been here for over 5 years ( even though we live within a 2 min walk!) .it was fabulous - the service ( thank you Zara!) , the food - all perfect . One of the best roast Sunday lunches ever ( we had turkey and lamb) . We will be back ! We are going to be back!

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
