Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food and table service together. The ham and chicken pie, the fish and chips with crispy batter and the Smokehouse Supreme are singled out, and the sticky toffee cheesecake is called a standout dessert. A steak baguette is also described as very tasty. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, polite and helpful, with one server keeping a diner's beer topped up. Reviewers also describe staff booking a large table in a quieter area for a charity group's meeting, and letting a family set out flowers and decorations for a celebration of life. Not every dish lands. One reviewer found the apple crumble burnt with a very hard crumble, and said the salt and pepper chicken loaded fries lacked the sauteed peppers and onions the menu advertised. Another found the food pretty good without being exceptional. The sharpest complaint concerns the car park, where one reviewer entered a registration at the touch pad and still received a parking charge, even after sending a bank statement proving the pub visit.

“This is a nice place! Very clean, furnished to a high standard with great staff. Good selection of drinks including Guinness, my tipple. It's not the cheapest place mind you but in line with prices in most places these days. The food was pretty good without being exceptional but again, you get what you pay for. I'd visit again because it's a pleasant place to spend an afternoon with your loved ones. Not sure how it is at night as we don't live locally but Poynton is a lovely place.”

“Great Food and Outstanding Service Arriving at 7:35 PM with kitchen service closing at 8:00 PM can sometimes feel risky, but the staff at The Farmers Arms in Poynton made us feel warmly welcomed from the moment we walked through the door. We were served by Nieve, who was exceptionally polite, attentive, and a absolute credit to the front-of-house staff. The food did not disappoint: Fish & Chips: Perfectly cooked with a crispy batter and delicious sides. Smokehouse Supreme: Rich, flavorful, and packed with great smoky depth. Sticky Toffee Cheesecake: A standout dessert to finish the evening—decadent and beautifully executed. Overall, excellent food and top-tier hospitality even close to kitchen cutoff. We will definitely be back! Remember to put your car registration in the machine at the bar👍”

“We held our local riding for the disabled (RDA)group ( middlewood ) AGM last week with 17 members, all volunteers . The team at the farmers arms booked a large table for us in a quieter area of the pub. It enabled us to have a fabulous meeting at no extra cost( helpful as we are a charity) it was a, great atmosphere, we managed to complete the full meeting and lunch for this large group. The meals arrived on time and the food was great. Thanks to Charlie and the team for all their support.”
