About The Kingfisher
The Kingfisher is a Wetherspoon pub on London Rd S in Manchester, set in a restored space with dining areas spread across several levels, so diners can choose where to sit. Menus are placed on the tables, and staff bring food out to you. Drinks are ordered and served at the bar, where a selection of ales is on offer. Bar staff check ID, and a decanter of ice water stands on the bar for anyone who wants it.

Customer Review Summary
Staff are the main draw, with reviewers repeatedly describing friendly, welcoming service and a manager who went over and above for a friend's 50th gathering, a volunteer thank-you lunch and a veteran group's visit. Food comes next, called great, piping hot and usually served fast, alongside a brilliant selection of ales, fresh drinks, cider and lattes that several reviewers find affordable and unbeatable on price. The complaints concern service lapses. One diner describes a long wait for a meal that sat on the counter and then arrived with dried-up broccoli and only warm, with one staff member running the floor and another serving drinks, and says the pub needs more staff. Another reports a bartender asking them to leave for having no ID even though they had no alcohol, and a parent says he and his son were asked to leave over the son's t-shirt, though the pint itself was nice. One reviewer also singles out the decanter of ice water left on the bar.

“Waited over 40 mins for food after it was sat on the counter for the best part of 25mins The food was spoiled, broccoli dried up and the rest of the meal was just warm One member of staff running around doing it all. One other member of staff serving drinks. It's clearly not their fault but they need more staff. It's a shame really when it's usually the best spoons so we travel that bit further.”

“Went with my won for his first pint after turning 18. Was asked to leave because apparently his t shirt was offending people. Even though we sat out of the way of everyone. Pint was nice. Place looked lovely. Just a bit of a bitter ending to what should have been a quiet drink with my son.”

“I visited the Kingfisher for a friends 50th gathering. The staff were so welcoming, the manager in particular really looked after us and made the celebration really special for my friend. The toilets were also the cleanest and best maintained toilets of any Wetherspoon I’ve visited, I would definitely come back! I also really appreciated the decanter of ice water on the bar. All in all a lovely spoons that I would recommend.”

“the bar tender with the pink hair is extremely rude. she said to other staff that me and my friends are all “pricks” which is very unprofessional and on a different occasion i was having food and she kicked me out for having no id even though we had no alcoholic drinks and it wasn’t past 9pm.she is a very unpleasant person”

“We have just held an event here, buying our volunteers lunch to say “Thank you”. James the manager went over & above to make it special and Ellie did a stirling job with both the good & drinks order. Well done to all and thank you for making it really nice for us”
