Quick info
About The Brushmakers Arms
The Brushmakers Arms is a village pub in Southampton, on Shoe Ln, set in a low-ceilinged, dark-wood room with a fireplace. Real lit candles stand on the tables, and the low lighting suits the setting. The team brings orders to the table. The menu is short, with three items: Home Baked Ham & Mustard, Roast Pork, Apple Sauce & Mustard, and Cheddar Cheese And Chutney. At the bar, the beers cover a range of tastes. Walking routes run around the village, and some guests arrive on foot from nearby. Parking is limited, so visitors who drive tend to park away and walk or cycle in.

“Honest review here, no hate. The portion sizes were very small, £4 for five olives, £27 for a small piece of fish. Food tasted good but considering the cost would expect more. Wait times to get the food was very long. Staff were friendly …”

“Lovely country pub in delightful village, with great walking routes. Menu seemed generic and not too lunch focused, but what was served was very good. Service very attentive and detailed. Nice to see locals in the bar, where there are beers for all tastes. Only limiting factor is parking, so park away and walk or bring yer bike !”

“Lovely olde pub hidden down country lanes. Dark wood interior, with real lit candles on the tables ( a nice touch) and a fireplace. Great food and table service (we went on a midweek lunchtime and pub was relatively quiet). We tried the …”

“Absolute top tier place. Proper village pub; low ceilings, low lighting but high quality food and drinks. The service was nothing short of excellent! Friendly and attentive staff were superb, even with two children in the party always came with solutions not problems. Can’t recommend it enough. Well worth the visit. Parking is proper village though! Good luck! Loved it! 👍🏻”

“Have walked to this pub many times since moving to Bishops Waltham 2 years ago. Staff are very friendly and have made us feel at home on every visit. Have eaten here a as a couple & with friends and the food is always good, especially Sunday lunch. On our latest visit there was a pop up kitchen and we thoroughly enjoyed our Tapas, which was excellent value, the Banana Brioche pudding was delicious. It has become our go to local even though it's a 2 mile walk from home.”
