About The Wagon Works

The Wagon Works is a pub and bar on Southampton Road in Eastleigh, set up for walk-ins across the day. The kitchen turns out typical Wetherspoons-style meals, with jacket potatoes among the options on the menu. Gents toilets sit on the ground floor, and power outlets for charging devices are limited, so laptops and phones can be hard to top up at busy times. The bar pours drinks throughout, and the room opens straight onto the roadside frontage.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers split on this Spoons. Praise centers on the new jacket potatoes, with others citing good beer at great value and friendly staff. The sharpest complaint describes a chicken breast so dry a knife could not cut it. The replacement arrived after everyone else had finished, with cold peas and mushy chips. Another notes it is hard to find a plug for charging phones.

“Wasn't my best experience in an weatherspoons to be fair. Ordered three meals with dinks and an extra bottle of water for the young one. Tried to tell me I hadn't ordered a lager with my meal ant it would be an additional cost, After argument they agreed to include the pint of lager in the food and charge me for the cheaper product the water. Food arrived at the table and the chicken was so dry it could not be cut by a knife had to go back to the bar to complain. the replaced the chicken breast but by the time my food came out everyone had finished eating the plate had been kept on a hot plate while the replacement chicken was cooked. so when it came back to the table the peas were cold and the chips were mushy, It wasn't overly busy and wasn't worth what we paid for it.”

“Food good, usual Spoons meals but the new jacket potatoes are good. The beers are good and all at great value. Very friendly staff and good clientele there, more busy by the time we left.”

“Door Staff need a basic training course in customer service. They were uninterested in telling us where the smoking area was and when we popped out to have a vape they wouldn’t let us back in again despite having ordered food and drinks to our table. They claimed it was due to licensing conditions but refused to show us the licensing poster and had ample opportunity to give us a heads up that if we left we would be refused entry. 10 minutes we were outside next to them chatting about going back in where they could have told us we had 5 minutes to return before 00:00 but nothing. The one member of door staff was extremely rude and provocative and followed us around the building when we tried to signal to our friends through the window that we had been refused entry and he then accused us of plotting vandalism. Never again, horrid place.”
