Customer Review Summary

The sharpest complaints come from two lower-rated reviews. One table of seven reports that orders placed on three devices arrived 45 minutes apart, with lukewarm food, missing onion rings and plates slammed down. The reviewer says the manager only appeared to ask about the onion rings, and that a written complaint brought no compensation. Another describes overcooked fish and chips, replaced on request, and a sparse £18.50 pizza with a pale base, and felt the reply dismissed the concern.

“The food menu was great. Scenery was amazing. Location is perfect. The two male waiters that served us drinks were very friendly and efficient. However the waitresses are rude and unfriendly. We were a table of 7 and pre warned the waitress that we would be ordering on the app through 3 devices for ease- we wrongly assumed this would be communicated to the kitchen. Our last meal arrived 45 minutes after our first one. Tables around us that had arrived much later than us were served before bringing out the whole tables orders. My friends that had ordered first on our table received their order last. Onion rings were missing from one of the plates and the waitresses was shocked we wanted these to be brought out. Most of the food was lukewarm when it came out, but we assumed this was due to sitting outside. All of our plates were slammed down on the table when they did eventually arrive and the waitresses did not offer us any condiments. I finally managed to flag down the waitress and asked for some mayonnaise and salt when she had a moment to do so. She sighed, paused for nearly a full minute, and left me genuinely thinking she was going to walk away without replying. She then gave us a sarcastic smile, grabbed the condiments, and slammed them down on the table. At this point I was so shocked by the service that I asked to speak to her manager regarding the service and poor conduct of the waitress. She exclaimed that due to the fact we ordered on 3 devices, ‘this is not how service works’, and that her manager would only say the same thing so there was ‘no point bringing her out’ to see us. I insisted that I wanted to talk to her. The manager did appear but only to check if we still wanted our onions rings- almost an hour after the dish had arrived to the table! She then scurried off before we could explore our complaint future. The manager was nowhere to be seen on the way out. Our group had every intention of getting desserts and more drinks but the service here really was such a let down and enough to make us leave to go elsewhere. The worst part is that I raised a written complaint with The Fishers Pond in hope that they’d rectify the poor experience, but instead the response only advised that the restaurant was busy on this particular evening and that the manager had not been informed of my complaints. After one whole week of intended ‘investigation’ into the matter, no fair compensation was offered. I will not be returning and I can imagine my Airbnb host would appreciate the feedback too.”

“We visited Fishers Pond in Eastleigh for lunch after hearing some very good recommendations. Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing and, having contacted them afterwards, I was equally disappointed by the response I received. We ordered fish and chips and a Margherita pizza with additional mushrooms and bacon. The fish and chips were so overcooked that there was hardly any fish inside the thick, hard batter, and the chips were extremely greasy. We returned them and they were replaced, which I appreciated. The pizza was another matter. Please look at the photograph and judge for yourself. The toppings were extremely sparse and unevenly distributed, with what appeared to be a couple of whole mushrooms and a few pieces of bacon simply placed on top. The base was also very pale and, in places, looked as though it may not have been properly cooked. This was an £18.50 pizza. We didn't send it back because we'd already had to return the fish and chips and simply didn't have the time to wait for yet another meal. I contacted Fishers Pond afterwards, including the photograph, because I felt the quality and presentation were simply not acceptable for the price. Unfortunately, their response was incredibly disappointing. Rather than addressing the appearance and quality of the pizza, I was told that the mushrooms were “supposed to be presented like this” and that the chefs serve food according to their guidelines. I'm sure they do follow their guidelines, but that wasn't the point of my complaint. The question was whether the pizza in the photograph represents a standard they genuinely consider acceptable to serve to a customer for £18.50. That question wasn't answered. They did say they would speak to the kitchen about the fish and chips, which I appreciate, but there was no real acknowledgement of the concerns I raised about the pizza. The setting at Fishers Pond is lovely, and we genuinely wanted to enjoy our visit. Unfortunately, the food fell well below expectations and the response afterwards left us feeling that our concerns had simply been shrugged off. I think the photograph speaks for itself. We certainly won't be returning.”

“As a disabled pensioner I struggle quite badly with my mobility, however my visits to Fishers Pond are always associated with caring and helpful staff. Everyone is happy to help me and they always offer to bring my drink to the table so that I can sit down and rest. From Lyn the manager, through Jo and Molly, Mark, Nick, George, Harley, Sarah and Joe. I am always treated with compassion and care. A wonderful location and always a good experience. Thank you everyone at Fishers Pond. Highly recommended.”

“Great location, great atmosphere. The pond lends itself to calm. Service was great...orders placed at the bar for outside dining, first come first served....worked well. Meals delivered promptly. We tried the Sunday roast options, thought the menu is pretty good with a selection to suit most dining options. Our meal portions were good and food was very good. We will certainly return.”
