Customer Review Summary

Karahi is what most reviewers come for, with the lamb, chicken, mutton butter and Desi chicken versions all described as tasty and full of flavour, and fresh naan, including garlic and butter naan, is the usual partner. Close behind are the mixed grill, seekh kebab, chicken malai boti and chicken tikka, while the Kabuli Pilao, daal and mango lassi also earn praise, and several diners single out friendly, welcoming servers. The complaints cluster around the same dish. Two reviewers found the meat and chicken karahi near enough bones, one citing many small bones and chicken too small and hard to eat. Another described a lamb Shinwari karahi as an old leftover curry of plain onion and tomato gravy. Others mention slow service, an understaffed room, dusty and dirty seating, and a mango lassi served hot. After that Shinwari karahi disappointed, the server offered to have a special karahi prepared, but the diners were short on time and settled for the kebabs, which they found fresh.

“The meal was excellent, particularly the mutton butter karahi and chicken tikkas. The service was a little slow, and it looked understaffed, which is a bit strange considering it was 14th August. The general cleanliness of the restaurant could be better.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking for an authentic South Asian dining experience, Butt Karahi at 157 The Broadway, Southall UB1 1LP is the place to be! I recently visited with a group of five friends, and we were absolutely blown away by the delicious flavors that awaited us. The lamb karahi was a standout dish; tender pieces of lamb simmered in a rich, spiced gravy that left us craving more with every bite. The blend of spices was perfect aromatic and hearty, it truly embodied the essence of traditional Pakistani cuisine. We also indulged in their mixed grill, which was a generous platter filled with perfectly marinated meats, all grilled to perfection. The portion sizes were impressive; we certainly didn’t leave hungry! And let's not forget the naan not just any naan, but a gigantic one that could easily serve five hungry men! It was fluffy and warm, ideal for scooping up the flavorful karahi. Pairing this meal with their mango lassi, which was thick, creamy, and perfectly sweet, made for a hearty and satisfying feast that had us all feeling immensely full and content. The location itself is a lovely homage to traditional South Asian culture. The decor features authentic elements that transport you straight to the heart of South Asia, both inside and out. Plus, we got to sit on the floor, adding to the authenticity of our meal, although there is plenty of seating available for those who prefer tables. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. Overall, Butt Karahi is perfect for families and groups looking to share a filling meal filled with flavor. Just a heads up, finding parking can be a challenge, as it is situated on a busy high street. But trust me, it’s worth every moment of the search! Be sure to give it a visit you won’t regret it!”

“Visited them on 19/5/26 Ordered chicken karahi , daal maash and mango lasi. Chicken karahi had so many small bones and chicken itself was way too small and hard to eat. Daal was ok but mango lasi was not cold at all it was hot. Sitting was very dirty with so much dust and was not clean at all. This place is getting worse at every visit.”

“Today we went for lunch and ordered lamb Shinwari karahi along with chapli kebab. However, the dish served as “karahi” seemed like some old leftover curry. It didn’t look like a karahi at all neither in appearance nor in taste. It was just a basic onion-tomato gravy, and it didn’t seem fresh at all. As you can see in the photo, the bones didn’t have fresh meat on them the meat looked like it had already been stripped off. Fresh meat doesn’t look like that and there was absolutely no taste. We were very disappointed. When we spoke to the girl Mehak who was serving us, she clearly realized that we could tell the food wasn’t right. She tried to make up for it with a nice gesture and offered to have a special karahi prepared for us. However, we were already getting late and already wasted our time, so we just managed with the kebabs. Kebab was ok at least, were fresh. I usually don’t leave negative reviews, especially about food, but when you go to such a big, well known brand and experience this, it’s quite disappointing and honestly a bit shameful. I hope more attention will be given to food quality and freshness in the future to ensure a better experience for customers.”
