About The Shahi Nan Kabab, "Original Since 1969"
The Shahi Nan Kabab is a family-run kebab shop in Southall, at 56 High St opposite Southall Police Station, and has traded under the Original Since 1969 name across three generations of the family. Seekh kabab is the speciality, and the kitchen makes its own chilli sauce in house to go with it. Kebab rolls are the main item, including a Large Kabab Roll, and lamb kofta is also on the counter. A special chutney comes alongside the kebabs. Food is cooked fresh while you wait, so orders are placed at the counter, and a small dining area is there for eating in. The shop opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Reviewers most often mention chilli sauce, chicken doner, kebab rolls and lamb kofta.
Customer Review Summary
The chilli sauce is what reviewers raise most, described as hot, tangy and incredible, with one warning to keep water close. Kebabs come close behind, praised for a firm, chewier texture, a meaty and smoky taste, and for holding up once the sauce goes on. A few single out the chicken shawarma and lamb kofta as fresh and juicy, and a first-time visitor called the doner excellent. Longtime customers call it the original, with one travelling from east London for decades and another returning for nostalgia. The criticism is substantial. One reviewer reports gastroenteritis after a home delivery, another describes a fly in a closed kebab container, and a third says a counter worker sneezed while serving without washing hands. Others mention wrong naan, a missing kebab, chicken doner without proper marinade, smaller portions at higher prices, and a dodgy bathroom. Even so, one longtime regular describes kebabs cooked fresh while customers wait.

“I used to go there as a child/teenager and it was one of my most favourite places, but it has gone downhill. Lately everytime I go there is always something wrong….like wrong nann, kebab missing ….this time I found a big fat green fly feasting in kebab takeaway container that was closed up in the shop! I wanted to get a picture but it flew out before I could grab my phone. Never again !!!! They should be reported Ealing authority”

“It’s just a shop for kebab rolls only. Tasteless chicken doner without proper marinade. No salad available, only lettuce and tomato. The beard guy with glasses sneezing in counter and serving at the same time without washing hands. If service improves and a bit quality, it can be ok.”

“Farqo service is incapable, This is the original Shahi. All the staff are always friendly. The food wow, freshly cooked while you wait, the kebabs and the special chutney is incredible. I travel from east London to get my food for the last 40 years and its worth every penny. Please come to east London 😄”

“Use to visit a Shahi Naan kebab branch opposite the Southall Train station as a little kid. We then moved away from London. Really fancied a nice kebab and I remembered the shani naan branches still existed. I popped into this specific branch and was greeted by faroud. He still kept the family business going and still makes the most perfect kebabs. Glad I visited and brought back nostalgia. Thankyou faroud.”

“I do not understand why so many thick people reviewing this place negatively when they clearly had bad food from another shop. I come here often and my last visit last Sunday 1st March at 7pm was the best as always. The chicken shwarma and lamb kofta were fresh and juicy. Excellent quality. I am very fussy with my food but this place delivered 10/10 every time. Please do not be that stupid, if you are stupid enough to eat at the other Shia Naan Kebab (South Road) and hate it, then do not review this place in negative way. This is the real one with lovely people - and honest workers. And the best. Gary Mander”

“Original Shahi Nan Kabab from the 60's. The only branch that has been consistent in taste & flavour for over 50 years! This family run business has been a favourite place for families and now seeing 3rd generations coming to eat at this great kabab place. People from other countries come for our speciality in seekh kabab and our in house made famous Chilli Sauce!!!”
