Quick info
About BrasilPortu
BrasilPortu is a Brazilian restaurant on Bearwood Rd in Smethwick, at number 428-430, and it sits behind its own Brazilian and Portuguese grocery shop and butcher. The shop includes a supermarket area stocked with Portuguese and Brazilian food and drink products, so a meal and a browse for ingredients share one address. In the dining room, the kitchen serves feijoada with rice, and a mixed grill platter is portioned for two to share. The drinks list also includes mocktails for those who want something without alcohol.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the meat, with the mixed grill for two and the platter for two drawing repeated mentions for tender, flavorful cuts. Close behind are the feijoada served with rice, described as rich and perfectly seasoned, and the beef croquettes, called delicious. Others single out the hamburger, a fresh-tasting mocktail, and acai ice cream and pudim from the shop's grocery area, which several describe as an extensive range of Brazilian and Portuguese products. Servers are often called friendly, sweet and helpful, and diners mention feeling welcome. The main criticisms are prices seen as high, with some meals described as expensive, and uneven service and food. One diner found the bitoque beef tough and old-tasting, then waited with finished plates on the table and had plates dropped near them without a proper apology. Another ordered a cod fritter and received a coxinha instead, and called the attendants arrogant. Some outdoor seating at the front is noted for coffee on a nice day.

“Love this place! Nice to be able to go to a Portuguese/Brazilian establishment on Bearwood High Street. It’s spacious inside and they have a super and pretty extensive supermarket area in part of the store to buy real Portuguese/Brazilian food and drink products. They have good chefs serving good food and authentic bottled beer and wine. Great for coffee too and on a nice day you can sit out the front of the shop. Bon Día!”

“The attendants are extremely arrogant. I ordered a cod fritter, but I got a *coxinha* with the seasonings inside. The food was terrible. The food and service are terrible; I will never return to this place.”

“Absolutely lovely evening with family. We were made very welcome. Food was amazing and the waitress couldn't do enough for us. The evening was enjoyed by us all. Thank you to all the staff.”

“We had a Groupon voucher for the platter for 2 and we also got beef croquettes - delicious! Meat was tender and tasty, and all sides were fab too. Drinks were lush and the restaurant itself is so cool; hidden away behind the shop. Will definitely go again, and recommend!”

“The food my mom ordered was alright , but the beef from my bitoque just looked old and tasted like it , also hard as a rock. The space itself is chill , but the service by the older dude there was horrible , 20 min with the plates on the table done and the guy just ignored it while we just wanted him to come over so we could order deserts, but guess what , he was more busy speaking and entertaining the table with woman’s on the other side then doing his service , let’s not even talk about that while waiting to pay he drops the plates near me , making all my white clothes dirty , and there was not even a proper apology, he just acted like nothing happened, and at the end they ask me if I wanna give them a 10% service charge like the service was good. Overall pretty mid/bad experience for the prices practiced on the restaurant.”
