About MJ's Cafe
On High St in Skegness, MJ's Cafe serves breakfast throughout the day, with the belly buster as the larger option and a medium size available for smaller appetites. The four-item menu also covers a jacket potato with cheese, baked beans, and afternoon tea, alongside a two meal deal. Fried bread and scrambled eggs feature on the breakfast plate, and Yorkshire tea is poured alongside. The cafe takes walk-ins rather than bookings, and orders can be taken away for those eating off site. Outdoor seating suits diners who want to bring their dogs, which are welcome throughout, and high chairs are available for families with young children. The entrance is step-free, allowing wheelchair access. It opens daily, daytime hours only.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to MJ's Cafe for the all day breakfast, with the belly buster singled out as "as advertised" and a medium breakfast offered as the smaller option. Value for money comes up repeatedly, alongside huge portions, home cooked food and a fry up described as excellent. Close behind is the staff, called friendly and helpful by many, with quick service and little waiting. Proper Yorkshire tea and coffee earn praise from some, and a few mention the desserts and doughnuts, plus the welcome for dogs. The complaints are sharper but fewer. One reviewer found the fried bread inedible and tasting of old oil, the scrambled eggs watery and the coffee weak. Another reports that both meals arrived overcooked and that the woman they raised it with was rude and unhelpful, despite previous good visits. A third calls the visit an experience, with the food nice once it finally arrived.

“mj's cafe certainly was an experience for us. not altogether bad and when we did finally get our food it was nice.”

“Me and my husband usually always have a meal here and it’s always been spot on and customer service amazing! However .. both mine and my husbands meals were overcooked and when I spoke to the lady about it she was extremely rude and unhelpful. Her attitude was appalling! She was short with a Yorkshire accent. Neither of us have seen her before.”

“Decided to try a belly buster on day 1 on day 2 downsized to medium breakfasts as we were to full to eat dinner fantastic value for money great service food was great and they use proper Yorkshire tea one of our group was unable to eat …”

“I went there based on the good reviews. Sadly I totally disagree. The only good things were that the food was served fast and it was cheap. I would prefer to pay more and have some good quality food. The fried bread was inedible, tasting of old oil. I have seen other tables leaving it as well. They don't use butter but margarine. The scrambled eggs were watery and tasteless. The coffee very weak. Sadly it was disappointing.”
