About Bill & Ben's Cafe

Bill & Ben's Cafe sits on Winthorpe Ave in Skegness, a seaside spot with sea views from the tables and free parking outside for anyone arriving by car. Breakfast leads the menu, with a vegetarian version alongside the standard plates, and the kitchen cooks food fresh while you wait. Later in the day the choice runs to jacket potatoes and a steak pie served with mash, peas and gravy, plus mugs of tea and coffee, cappuccino and latte. Orders are placed at the counter and there is no booking, so it works as a walk-in stop. Dogs are welcome inside, and tables outdoors give the option of eating in the open air. A step-free entrance helps visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs make space for families with young children. The doors open daily.

Customer Review Summary

The caveats are mixed and fairly substantial. Some find it pricey, with one citing a dry microwaved jacket potato and a plain burger that cost extra with chips. Others report undercooked chips, a greasy breakfast, a hair in a meal, a forgotten cappuccino, and lattes and cappuccinos that tasted the same as ordinary coffee. Service divides sharply. One reviewer praises a lone server who never made anything feel like trouble, while another calls the lady working alone extremely rude and says a long-standing holiday habit ends here. A third notes a grumpy counter worker and a friendlier colleague on another day, who was constantly cleaning.

“Really welcoming, basic seaside food, mugs of tea and coffee and dogs welcome, what more can you ask. Also an extra sausage for Kit the dog who would definitely give 5 stars.”

“The lady working was extremely rude, grumpy and unwelcoming to me & my family due to her having to work alone. I come to this Cafe every holiday, though I'll never be returning again.”

“Oh my gosh! So delicious. I had the steak pie (full of steak) with mash, peas and gravy. Really lovely 😍”
  • Donna Unitt
“Called in after a few hours on beach with the family. Wasn't expecting gold star food but if im paying premium money would have expected better. For £9.50 I got a dry microwaved jacket bit of leaf, tom and onion plenty of filling though. What was even more shocking was £6.50 for a plain burger.... £2 more if I wanted chips. Can't tell the difference between a milky/latte/cappuccino, lady made them the same with normal coffee not with espresso shots. Its ok in a pinch but definitely won't be rushing back”
  • NATASHA MADDOX
“Food was decent, the vegetarian breakfast was very good despite there being a hair on, but this cannot be helped, it happens. Husbands sausage egg and chips, chips undercooked, sausage standard, eggs excellent. A little pricey as our usual local is a little better value. They did forget my husbands cappuccino which I had to go up and ask for but it was very busy so don't mind too much. It could be cleaner. The staff could be a little more approachable. Dog friendly. Free parking. Great sea views. I don't plan to return just as we have a local as I stated but I wouldn't NOT go back in if hungry and in the area.”
