Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is the main draw, with reviewers praising the veggie breakfast, the regular and large cooked breakfasts, and a pork and stuffing roll made with a proper slice of pork rather than pulled pork. Close behind are the doughnuts, described as delicious, and cheap hot drinks, with several reviewers calling the place good value and the staff friendly. A few also mention the sea view and a vegetarian omelette, and one says staff checked whether the steak pie contained pork. Complaints are fewer but specific. One reviewer found the sausage cheap quality and not nice, another waited nearly an hour for a cheese toasty and a sausage roll while the cafe held only about five people, and one found the ice cream expensive for three small scoops on a cone. A separate reviewer who drove a long way felt the surrounding seafront had declined, with an arcade and bucket and spade shops left and a steep hill to the beach. Even so, most return to the breakfasts, with one couple saying they would be back for more of the veggie breakfast and coffee.

“The food was ok but the service. There were about 5 people in the cafe so it was not full and busy. I ordered a cheese toasty and a sausage roll and it took nearly 1 hour before I got my food. It's a good job they don't do Sunday lunch because you would have to wait until Monday for it .”

“Delicious assortment of ice cream flavours but expensive. £7.50 for 3 small scoops on a cone (no flake) is definitely not for the faint hearted.”

“A lovely meal and laid back cafe I was touched by the staff who looked to see if there were pork products in the steak 🥧 pie. If you're on a restricted or kosher diet, take care, as cooks often use pork fat I had a delicious vegi omelette instead. Spotless and relaxed place that is both cheap and offers great meals”

“We visited this lovely beachfront cafe twice during our stay at Chapel St Leonards. First time we just had a hot drink and some doughnuts which were delicious! On our second visit we had the breakfasts, mine was the regular size and my husband had the large breakfast. Again, we were not disappointed overall but we weren’t keen on the sausage, it was cheap quality and didn’t taste nice.”
