Quick info
About Casa Naranjo
Casa Naranjo is a Spanish tapas bar on Barracks Passage in Shrewsbury, set in a taverna-style room with exposed beams. A leg of lamb is available as a specialty, and it is ordered in advance. The tapas list includes octopus on potato, and a seafood paella sits on the menu too. Specials change, so the choice can differ between visits. A fiesta menu is offered for groups. The venue is small, and the bar pours wine and beer alongside the food.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the octopus, described as perfectly cooked and tender, with one pairing it with potato as a highlight alongside the pork cheek. Close behind are the black pudding in a pepper, the seafood paella, and a pre-ordered specialty leg of lamb that one reviewer calls phenomenal. A party of nine praised the fiesta menu for arriving with perfect timing, and a regular mentions changing specials. Several say the dishes taste as they do in Spain, a Spaniard among them, and the friendly, welcoming staff and fun music come up repeatedly. The main trade-off is size. Reviewers call the room small and loud, and one says walk-ins were turned away, so several suggest reserving in advance. Portions are generous, with one reviewer judging two and a half tapas per person about right. Another finished very full, ending with a bottle of red the staff helped choose.

“Lovely little tapas restaurant, great food and friendly service - a little on the small side so definitely reserve in advance.”

“We went as a party of 9 for my birthday last week and it was fabulous. The atmosphere was perfect like you were transported to a little restaurant in Spain. We had the fiesta menu which just kept coming with perfect timing and was to die for. The staff are lovely so welcoming and always happy. I would recommend over and over again and will definitely be back as will all my family who joined me that night. What a find!”

“Great place and central location. I want to go again. My food was flawless. I appreciated high customer service and pleasant atmosphere. It can be loud but that's the price to pay for a popular restaurant. It's a small venue”

“Outstanding restaurant, outstanding staff, need not to say anymore really. The food is delightful, if you’re reading this considering to go, firstly go but secondly pre order the specialty leg of lamb, it’s absolutely phenomenal. Our second visit now, we live elsewhere, it’s our must go to now when in Shrewsbury.”
