  “Attended a birthday party in one of the top rooms last weekend. Was really surprised how busy a place it is! First time I've been anywhere in a long time that had such a lively and friendly atmosphere. All the staff were bubbly and helpful, tried a pint of Jarl and it was excellent so stuck with that all night. There were hot pork scratchings and a variety of samosas available from the bar and a pizza van outside for those a bit hungrier ( I believe there's different options on different weeks). All in all a lovely little village pub that seems to thriving and we'd certainly return if ever in the area again”

  “Ye Olde Cross in Ryton is one of those pubs that gets everything right. From the moment you walk in, you’re made to feel welcome by both the staff and the regulars, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere that’s hard to beat. It’s also very dog friendly, which adds to the warm community feel and makes it a great place to stop with four-legged companions. The food truck offering is excellent and gives the pub something a little different. A special mention has to go to Peckin Order – the chicken was absolutely superb, freshly prepared, packed with flavour and easily some of the best street food we’ve had in a long time. It’s worth visiting for that alone. The drinks selection is equally impressive, with a great range of beers available and something to suit all tastes. Whether you’re calling in for a quick pint, meeting friends for the evening or making a day of it, the atmosphere is always welcoming and enjoyable. A brilliant local pub with great beer, fantastic food options and genuinely lovely people. It’s easy to see why it has such a loyal following, and we’ll definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended.”

  “Always a great atmosphere and huge selection of beers. The staff are friendly and you are made to feel welcome. Very often local food vans will be on site and you can eat the food within the pub. Either a quiet drink with your partner or a few beers with friend, you can’t go wrong.”
