About Jolly Postie
Jolly Postie is a pub on Baldock St in Royston, set in a vintage space dressed with post-office decor, including a van where guests can eat. The building has several different areas to spend time in, and a real log fire is part of the room. The menu runs to 110 dishes and centres on rotisserie chicken and steak, with a chicken mixed grill and a buttermilk chicken burger among the other mains. Pizzas and Sunday roasts also appear on the menu. At the bar, cask ale and cocktails sit alongside the food, so a drink can stand on its own as a reason to call in. Parking nearby is limited. Dogs are welcome, which suits owners who want to bring their pet along for a meal or a pint.

Customer Review Summary
Pizzas draw the most praise at this pub, with diners also singling out the Sunday roasts, burgers, rotisserie chicken, chicken mixed grill and buttermilk chicken burger. Cocktails and a decent cask ale get a mention, and one family says their child loved the chicken bone broth soup. Reviewers describe the postal-themed decor, the log fire and the playful atmosphere as fun, and many call the staff friendly and accommodating, with several servers praised for their service. One reviewer says a manager invited them back for a free meal after a problem with wait times, and they have returned three times since. The complaints are small but specific. One diner found a burger average and overcooked, another felt a quarter chicken on the mixed grill was just a single leg, and one thought a salad was small for its price. A couple of reviewers cite the lack of parking, and one says the pub was busy enough on a Tuesday night to suggest booking a table. Food is called consistent, decent and good value, and it arrives quickly.

“Me and my daughter love coming here. All staff are polite and accommodating. Food is reasonably priced and delicious. Could have e done with a bigger salad for £15 but overall we enjoy every visit.”

“The manager here is excellent! When we had a problem before with wait times they invited us back for a free meal. I’ve come back 3 times since, as the food is so good. It’s a great place for kids (I have a 5 year old) and they love the chicken bone broth soup. The staff are super friendly and the manager has the best hospitality skills. Portions of food are plenty and the food comes out in good time. Thanks to Chloe for great service and a friendly face.”

“Great tasting food and a lovely atmosphere. However, the chef needs to improve their butchery skills if they think a quarter of a chicken should be just a chicken leg on your mixed grill instead🤔.”

“A good family and group venue. Food is consistently pretty good - not mind blowing but decent and consistent for adults and children alike. The menu is varied so generally has something to suit everyone. The atmosphere is fun and suits the playful decor. We return regularly and would recommend.”
