Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are all listed, and the gravy, Yorkshire puddings, sausages and batter are made gluten-free as standard. Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast draws the most mentions, with diners praising good portions and a sharing board of all three meats, and one group eating it in the teepee with waiter service. Close behind are ale-battered fish and chips with mushy peas, pies, a gamey pigeon small plate, and desserts like pannacotta and sticky toffee pudding. Two reviewers note that gravy, Yorkshire puddings and sausages are gluten-free as standard, and the refurbishment and garden yurt get repeated praise. The main complaint is one Sunday booking where the food took two hours and ordinary Yorkshire puddings were placed on a platter meant to be gluten-free. The couple declined a fresh platter and left without eating. Another reviewer found the kids menu a little limited. When the kitchen could not supply a group's desserts, a server made them herself for the table.

“Our first time here since the new management took it over and we were very impressed! The inside has been given a nice facelift and there is also now a lovely large yurt in the garden offering additional space. I loved the vibe in the yurt, would love to come back if they’re holding some kind of event out there! We ate in the main restaurant and had Sunday roast. Good portion sizes and delicious food. My husband is GF and we were very impressed at their approach to this. They make most things GF as a standard meaning there was lots of flexibility of choice! Lots of things my husband usually has to miss out on like gravy, Yorkshire puddings, sausages and batter but here they were all GF. Kids menu was a little limited but still very good. Great service from our very enthusiastic and friendly server, Chloe, but the whole team was very attentive. Overall a really good experience and we’re now looking forward to returning again soon!”

“I cannot thank the team at The Hunters Inn enough for the experience that we had for our first time here. We were looked after consistently by Harry and his team. Not only was the customer service top notch, but the food was close to perfection. I highly recommend the starters, and with a wide (but sensible) range of choices, there is something for everyone. I personally had the classic fish and chips, which was ale battered with chips and the best mushy peas I have ever tasted. I will be coming back just for a plate of those alone. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a mixture of dimly lit and lighter decor throughout the interiors. The amount of space is incredible, and I was impressed very much so by the tipi style tent outside, which hosted football at the time. What a wonderful experience. We cannot wait to return. Thank you again!”

“Went with friends for dinner & drinks on Saturday night. The menu is impressive; it has a very pleasing range of options without being overwhelming, and even some amusing names on it! The pigeon (a small plate) was gamey and excellent. I had the Hunters Chicken which featured a very juicy chicken breast and glorious thick-cur chips. The pannacotta was a deliciously moreish dessert. The staff were all lovely, and Harry made us very welcome. If I didn't live several hours away I would be here all the time.”

“I hosted a baby shower at The Hunters and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day! Everything was incredible from start to finish. The food was absolutely insane — huge compliments to the chef, every single thing was delicious! 🤍 Chloe was amazing and so helpful throughout, nothing was ever too much trouble and she was so friendly and welcoming. Tilly was also so, so lovely and went above and beyond to help make everything perfect for me. Thank you all so much for making the baby shower so special! I couldn’t recommend The Hunters enough!”

“Amazing roast the staff were brilliant too. We had lunch in the teepee and because we booked had waiter service. Three of us had the small roast and one had the normal. They also do a platter between 2. Dessert was a raspberry creme brullee and sticky toffee pudding. Thank you to all the staff.”
