About Cricketers Arms
Cricketers Arms is a pub and restaurant on Chestnut Avenue in Eastleigh, set back from the road with a spacious garden out the back. Sunday roasts have included lamb, beef and turkey, and the kitchen has also listed shepherd's pie and Eton Mess on the menu. Service is at the table, with waitresses taking orders across the room on Sundays. The pub runs on a walk-in basis, with no booking taken. A number of Sunday visits have found the kitchen selling out of roast dishes before the end of service, which is worth bearing in mind for anyone planning a later arrival.

One reviewer arrived for a Sunday roast and found lamb, beef, turkey, shepherd's pie and the Eton Mess all gone, and felt staff were flustered rather than apologetic. Another says something is unavailable on every visit. Others praise the food, the spacious garden and friendly staff, though one reviewer found the lasagne burnt almost black.

“Good food and good value. However, every time I visit they have run out of something or other. This has spoilt visits on a couple of occasions, such as when roasts not available on Sundays or a child’s favourite being unavailable.”

“I'll start by saying that I've always enjoyed my previous visits to the pub and generally the food is good and pub has a nice atmosphere, especially in the summer with it's nice and spacious garden. However, we were very disappointed today to visit with the intention of having a Sunday roast, only to be told upon arrival that they were out of lamb and beef. Okay, we thought, that's a shame but we can still have turkey. Then the waitress informs us they are now out of turkey too! They were even out of shepherd's pie and so I ended up having to have my 4th choice from the menu! Seems like poor planning to have run out of roast dinners by 5:30 on a Sunday! I even had to go for my second choice pudding because the Eton Mess had run out! The food we had was nice enough just a shame we couldn't have what we wanted. The staff didn't seem that apologetic either - more just flustered about the situation and made it feel a little like it was our fault for wanting a roast on a busy Sunday!”

“We've been coming here for several years, once a month. Sandy is lovely, plus all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble!”
