About Redruth Meadery
Redruth Meadery is an English restaurant in Redruth, set in a candle-lit medieval eating hall at 6 Clinton Rd, with drapes, shields and lances on display and staff in period costume. Seating runs across two floors, with booths and a table under the stairs. The mead comes in raspberry, blackberry, strawberry and cherry flavours, small tasters are available, and it can be mixed with lemonade. On the food side, the menu includes a rack of ribs with BBQ sauce, rump steak, and starters of jalapeño poppers and wedges with blue cheese dip. A small salad bar sits alongside, and vegetarian choices include a spicy bean burger. Medieval-style music plays as covers. The restaurant opens in the evenings only, Thursday to Sunday, and is closed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the mead, with raspberry and blackberry singled out as favourites and small tasters praised, though the strawberry and cherry flavours are called very sweet or sickly. The medieval theme is close behind, with staff in period costume and a whimsical setting, and one reviewer wanted medieval music. Among the food, the BBQ ribs and a vegetarian lasagne earn strong praise, along with generous portions and jalapeno poppers, while the chicken in the rough was described as dry. Complaints about the kitchen recur. Several describe waiting over an hour for food, and two say a fatty steak with a vein running through it was met with a rude, aggressive response from a manager or another staff member. Others mention tight seating, a freezing upstairs, and a wrong meal returned after ten minutes with a fresh piece of chicken added at a different temperature. One reviewer also describes a loud, swearing customer at a neighbouring booth being rude to staff.

“Me and my husband love eating at the meadery, staff are always amazing and welcoming. The food is fantastic. The vegetarian lasagne i had this evening was the best I have ever had, made to perfection. I cannot recommend this place enough. Never had a bad experience here.”

“Plenty of food, portion size generous, food very hot when served. Music is medieval it's covers (fabulously Cheesey!) Slightly disappointed that the servers weren't wearing medieval dresses... but they were all guys so ... ;)”

“Absolutely amazing dining experience, the food was excellent, the mead was amazing, the staff were gorgeous in their medieval attire. If there was one critique, it would be the music, I would have preferred to listen to medieval music.”

“Visited the Meadery in Redruth for a friend’s birthday as a table of four and had a really lovely night. The food and service were both great, and the restaurant itself is really quirky and whimsical which made it feel a bit different and special. The menu is quite limited, but everything we had was really nice. Overall we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back.”

“Not happy! The young man who took our drinks order was lovely. Unfortunately, the young girl serving us seemed to struggle taking our order. She's probably new or shy, not a problem. As I didn't want chops I had a smaller portion of chicken with salad. However, as we had to wait over an hour for our food, Id eaten my salad! My Sister in law had steak, she had a vein through the steak and as she came to the end a 1/4 part of the steak was fat. When she complained I think it was the duty manager was very rude and quite aggressive. I definitely won't be coming back!! The food was nothing special, the service was very slow too. X2 tables that arrived after us had their food long before us. The only saving grace for me was the Mead. I don't think that warrants a total bill of ×£28”

“A visit to west Cornwall would not be complete without a visit to the famous Redruth Meadery. We are a candle-lit medieval eating hall complete with drapes, shields and lances, along with waiting staff in period costume creating an atmosphere and experience that is both relaxed and exciting. We pledge to take you back to a time when a trip to a restaurant meant proper British food served with proper portions. We also take pride in that the best locally-sourced ingredients are cooked fresh on the premises to produce a menu that has plenty of choice for the whole family – including vegetarian & vegan options. Gluten Free chicken or fish fries can be done if notified in advance - there are other GF meals that can be ordered on the night.”
