Quick info
About The Calverley Arms, Pudsey
The Calverley Arms is a Victorian inn and pub in Pudsey, where the valley views come with rooms in the old innkeeper's lodge for overnight stays. The kitchen serves breakfast and brunch menus, and a set menu at lunchtime. Cask ales sit alongside the pub food. Sunday brings a roast dinner, and tables often have a wait on Sunday afternoons. A side area hosts brunch functions of about 30 people, which suits groups planning a gathering. The pub also puts on a Christmas Day meal and Mother's Day meals. Drinks can be ordered at the table, and some guests go to the bar to be served. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast and brunch draw the warmest praise, described as fresh, hot and delicious, including a brunch function for about 30 and a birthday breakfast. Reviewers repeatedly credit a friendly, attentive waitress, and others single out a server on a Sunday roast dinner, where even a small portion was huge, and on a Mother's Day meal. A set menu lunch is called decent value with great food, and one family describes returning for their Christmas meal for 14 years. The caveats centre on the roast and the pace of service. One diner found the beef grey and leathery, the parsnips nearly raw and the cauliflower cheese thin and runny. Another reports understaffing, slow drinks, a latte that took three attempts and gravy for the children's meals that never arrived. That same reviewer still called the large outdoor area a safe place for kids to run around and play.

“The coffee was lovely, the dessert was nice. The roast was terrible. The carrots were perfect - although I prefer aldente, roasties ok, parsnips more or less raw, cauliflower cheese at an extra £8 had thin runny cheese and tough stalks, the Yorkshire was ok. And the horror of the show, the beef. At least that's what I ordered. Does leather still identify as beef? The grey leather, no, more suede than leather, needed brushing or taking to the cobblers. My Nana had Lamb. I couldn't even look at it. It looked worse than the suade on my plate. I've had a hard week. Had I not and I had any fight left in me we wouldn't have paid for it. Staff, nice. Building, lovely.”

“Very understaffed, waiting time on drinks being delivered to the table was ridiculous - so much so that we ended up going in twice and eventually asked to be served them at the bar, took the staff member 3 attempts to make a latte. Kids food came, the waitress left them on the table a hurried off without letting us know where cutlery/sauces or anything were or asking if we needed anything else. We went inside to ask for gravy - it never came. Probably won't hurry back here tbh. For the price, we expected better. £8.50 a kids meal, £4.50 a coffee. The only saving grace was the large outdoor area where it felt safe for the kids to run around and play with other kids”

“We had a fantastic experience at The Calverley Arms. The service was warm, friendly and attentive from start to finish, making us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was lovely – relaxed, inviting and a great place to enjoy a meal. The food was absolutely gorgeous, with every dish cooked to a high standard and full of flavour. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we would definitely return. Highly recommended!”
