Customer Review Summary

The carvery draws most diners, who describe hot, filling plates with plenty of choice, lovely tender roasted meats, roasties and onion gravy, with cake to takeaway also catching attention. Servers earn repeated praise as friendly and helpful, one chatting with a diner's elderly grandmother and another looking after many tables while keeping the area tidy. The beef is the recurring weak point. Two reviewers found it chewy or tough despite being advertised as slow roasted, and one also describes cold food. Others mention a wait for the carvery on a busy day, and one reports a long wait at the bar, rude staff and a tense atmosphere. One reviewer calls the toilets disgraceful, citing a worn seat and an out-of-order trough. Another says being moved from a reserved table left them feeling treated as a second-class customer because of their ethnicity, though they add they may be mistaken. When one table struggled to cut the tough beef with butter knives, the server offered a different meat and then fetched steak knives unprompted.

“We had a little wait for the carvery but understandable due to how busy it was. Food portions were perfect on regular and large plates. The service from Dee was brilliant, she helped with a couple of requests and also looked after at least 12 tables, keeping the area clean and tidy.”

“This is the 3rd time I have visited Hawthorne Farm. The food is always amazing. I have to point out the way the waiting staff are so helpful, pleasant and engaging. We visited with my elderly Nana and our waitress Tegan (who has served us on 2 occasions) was super friendly and took the time to have a quick chat with our Nana, which really made her day. Everything was served promptly and with a friendly vibe. I would recommend.”

“Dee was our server and she was excellent from the moment we walked through the door. Happy, smiling, nothing was too much trouble for her and she consistently helped us throughout our visit. The beef was a little chewy and without us even asking, Dee noticed we were having difficulty cutting the meat with the butter knives provided. She immediately offered to exchange our beef for another meat and when we declined, she rushed to get us some steak knives. The food, other than the beef, which was, as mentioned, a bit tough (which was surprising, given it was advertised as being slow roasted for 12 hours) was excellent. The tough beef dropped it one star. Overall, it was a nice meal, right before I was flying out of the nearby airport and offered good value for money. Dee absolutely made the meal with her help and advice. Would eat here again for sure.”

“Six of us visited Hawthorne Farm for a carvery, including our two daughters aged 2 and 4. The food was exactly what you'd expect from a carvery. Hot, filling, plenty of choice and nobody left hungry. It did the job perfectly well. The real entertainment began when we were shown to our table by a very friendly lady. What started as a warm welcome quickly developed into a full guided tour of the Hawthorne Farm experience. We were introduced to the menu, the offers, the QR code, the competition, the rewards scheme, the drinks, and quite possibly the complete history of the building. She was so committed to making sure we scanned the QR code that she stood with us for so long I genuinely thought she was going to pull up a chair, order a roast beef and join us for dinner. At one point I was expecting her to ask what we'd all like to drink and whether she'd be paying separately. To be fair, her enthusiasm was unmatched. We even won a free drink through the QR code. Unfortunately, claiming it appeared to be considerably more difficult than winning it. I think there may be a secret level that we didn't unlock. By the time the introduction was finished, I felt less like a customer and more like I'd just completed my first day of staff training. All jokes aside, she was genuinely lovely and clearly cared about her job. The food was decent, the atmosphere was good, and the service was friendly throughout. Would visit again, although next time I'll make sure there's room for one more at the table just in case our hostess decides to stay for the main course.”

“In reality it was a 20 star experience!!! Denise like a family member , friend, a carer, consierge... we felt precious, the food was literally the most superb one ever, all breakfast items were flawless, all staff members smiling and greeting you with the friendliest way! Huge, free for 4 hours carpark. 100 meter away from runway. Thank you!”
