Customer Review Summary
Samosas and meat rolls draw the most mentions. One reviewer calls the lamb samosas great though small enough to finish in three bites, and another finds the jumbo lamb roll flavourful despite a first mouthful of gristle. Positive reviewers describe a clean shop, helpful and friendly staff, fresh food, a good variety of snacks, and homely flavour with good portion sizes. They also note that road side parking can be tricky. Complaints are sharper. One reviewer says that shortly after opening, the Pol Roti, mutton rolls and chicken samosas were very hard, which they took to be food from the day before, after staff had said it was new. Another describes receiving only a small portion of sambar and a rude exchange when questioning it. One reviewer reports maggots in a biryani and no apology after two weeks, and another says the kottu roti was followed by a severe upset stomach. One reviewer says the counter repeatedly charges for items that never make it into the bag.

“Bought some lamb samosas and jumbo lamb roll to take away. There's a good range of products including some delicious looking cakes. The samosas were great, although a little on the small side: was able to finish each one in 3 bites. The lamb roll was flavourful but my first mouthful was pure gristle, not meat. This was a bit disappointing but the rest of the roll was filled with meat and potato. I'd definitely come back to try other items.”

“Never ever buy food from here again they make me fool what i am asking and they are forcing me to order other thing in same amount but at last i saw there is only a little portions of sambahr i asked why did you do that i have paid same amount then the young lady she is fool and rude she talks very rude to me and my husband. my husband talks very nicely but that girl oh my god i wanted to slap her because she didn't let my husband speak a single word insted of taking accountability of her mistake and that man she cuts our conversation and talk a lot that was very rude i cant express you guys how i was feeling that time. Every time she said i asked you you don't understand blah blah blah. I have one suggestion if you don't talk nicely and i don't have patience then don't work in Hospitality and please don't do it again with anyone. Please give some rest to your small brain. And learn same basic manners”

“Extremely disappointed with our recent order from Sambal Express in Rayners Lane. The kottu roti tasted terrible, and it gave us a severe upset stomach afterwards. Really bad experience, we definitely won't be ordering from here again.”

“The counter staff frequently make mistakes. They charge for items you order but then not put the item in the bag. When you come home the item you have paid for is missing.they have a very poor system of pricing items on the till and pile them up on the desk and forget to put those in the bag. This has happened to me and my wife several times.I hope this is not a deliberate ploy to rip customers off. This is for Sambal Rayners lane.”
