About Seashore Grill

Seashore Grill is a cafe on Beach Rd in Penarth, with a rooftop area that looks out over the sea and the islands. It sits on the Coastal Path and is walkable from Penarth, with views across the Bristol Channel. The kitchen serves a full English breakfast of bacon, sausage, egg, beans and hash browns. A traditional roast comes with a choice of chicken, beef or lamb, plus Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Panini and baguettes round out the menu for lighter orders. The business also runs a bar and a function room alongside the cafe. Dogs are welcome. Parking is at the adjacent caravan park, and the farthest car park is reserved for The Captains Wife pub.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the breakfasts, especially a full English with spectacular hash browns and a cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, egg and beans with a cup of tea that several describe as very good value. A Sunday roast with chicken, beef and a lamb shank, plus rich homemade gravy and a giant Yorkshire pudding, comes close behind, and one diner also praises a vegetable vindaloo cooked in ghee. A ham and cheese panini with a fresh side salad and coleslaw gets a mention too. Walkers on the coastal path from Penarth highlight the rooftop seating with views over the sea and islands, and the staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming. One group was served a baguette and drinks just as the place was closing. The one complaint is a single reviewer's eggs Benedict, with half-done toast and margarine only blobbed on. Several mention that parking is available at the adjacent caravan park, and one family held a wake there with attentive staff.

“We had my father in laws wake at the Seashore Grill yesterday as he always loved going there for his birthday breakfasts. The staff were incredible, attentive, friendly and helpful and it was a really lovely event. Gorgeous food which everyone enjoyed. Thanks so much x”

“Had a ham and cheese panini, proper ham off the bone came with a lovely fresh side salad and coleslaw. The staff were friendly and professional and all for a very reasonable price. In the words of Arnie 'I'll be back' I'll try to remember to post a photo next time before I've eaten it all. Great little place.”

“It was actually 1988 the Indian on the Beach. The best vegetarian curry I've ever had and I've been a curry fan for over 50 years. I'm generally vegan but this vegetable vindaloo was cooked in ghee. It was off the scale. Precious memories of my parents in Sully where I lived in 1982. The views of the Bristol Channel's slate bed sea from the restaurant. Flatholm and Steepholm glowing in the setting sun, replaced by the lights on the coast of Somerset, glittering in the dark; as remote as 1982”

“Had egg Benedict and I’ve never tasted anything so awful in my life. The toast was only half done and the nasty cheap margarine was only blobbed on.. yuk!!”
  • gabriella Rossi
“My 4 piece cooked breakfast (two bacon, two sausage, egg and beans) with a cup of tea was £6! Staff were so friendly and welcoming. What a bargain and also such a beautiful place! I walked the coastal path from Penarth. Deffo recommend!”
