About Quantum Cafe
Breakfast and lunch set the rhythm at Quantum Cafe, a cafe on Severn Road in Cardiff serving a traditional British menu. The full cooked breakfast is the mainstay of the kitchen, plated with toast as part of the order, and portions are large. Lunch follows the same straightforward cafe range through the day. There are no reservations, so customers walk in and order, and the doors open daily during daytime hours only, closing before the evening. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without a kerb or stair to manage, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Much of the trade comes from regulars, and the team knows many customers by name.

Customer Review Summary
The cooked breakfast is what brings most reviewers back, and the Quantum breakfast in particular draws comment for arriving so loaded it comes on a non-standard plate, piping hot and, several say, generous without being greasy. Close behind is the welcome: regulars describe the owner and staff knowing everyone by name, one visitor thanking them for remembering an elderly relative's late friend, and another calling it a community rather than a yuppiefied cafe. Sunday lunch and the fried breakfast also get named, alongside praise for quick service, low prices and a clean room. The dissent is real, though. One diner found the food tasteless and greasy despite liking the people and the portions, another describes an omelette swimming in oil, rude treatment from an older member of staff and being charged for unrequested toast, and a third counted one small piece of bacon and a halved sausage in a roll, with the toast forgotten until asked for. One reviewer advises bringing cash.

“I visited cafe yesterday with my elderly mum and daughter.my mum was , until a few months ago, a regular visitor with her friend( now deceased ) . The care and kindness from the staff was overwhelming. Service was 100% food fab, and great value. Thank you for remembering her and her friend 🧡. Will definitely be back soon and recommend.”

“If I could I would give 0 stars because first of all the service is really bad the women not sure if she’s a manager the older one not the young one she’s really rude she has no manners towards her staff and customers ! Tried charging me for a toast that I didn’t even ask for .. the omelette was literally swimming in oil disgusting! I do not recommend it I have never done reviews in my life but for this one I had too! Not very welcoming”

“My mum & dad love this cafe. I've been with them a couple of times. Hallo (the owner) & Marcella are amazing. They know everyone & whats going on with them. They talk to people. It a community not a yuppiefied cafe. The food is good & plentiful & the prices more than fair. They work so hard to make sure they have a word with everyone. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. If you visit - just listen to the kindness”

“Visited the other day spent £23 x2 people- ordered a bacon&sausage roll & chips- bare in mind this was about £6/7.. There was one small piece of bacon and one sausage cut in half 🤣 one handful of chips.. The cooked breakfast standard- asked for no black pudding and no tomatoes- not offered an alternative which is fine wasnt really bothered. Forgot the toast - had to ask ! Overall won’t be going back tuck inn around the corner much better though”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
