About KIN+ILK St Davids
KIN+ILK St Davids is a cafe in Cardiff at 1 Hills St, built around specialty direct trade coffee. A rotating guest coffee from different roasteries runs alongside it, giving coffee drinkers a changing choice of roasters. Pourover is on the menu for those who want a slower brew. Customer Review Summary
Coffee is what most reviewers come for, with a pourover, a cortado and a cold brew with cold foam each called very good or lovely. The hot chocolate mocha is praised for its chocolate flavor. Close behind are a carrot cake with walnuts that isn't too sweet and an almond croissant one reviewer recommends. Others describe a calm, cosy space with a brown theme, indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of sockets for charging devices, and one calls the matcha lattes the best in Cardiff. Service divides opinion sharply. Several find the staff friendly, polite and quick, yet three reviewers give the lowest score over rude or unprofessional treatment. One describes an order taken, then asked for again after payment was requested. A couple found their cappuccino not what they expected. Another reviewer's matcha with white chocolate was first made without the syrup, and the replacement looked like pale green milk with syrup.

“really nice pastries and drinks! would recommend the almond croissant. there’s a really sweet barista named afiah, but beware that her drinks are as sweet as her 🍬🍬🍬🍬”

“Very disappointing experience. I ordered a matcha with white chocolate, but it was made without it. When I pointed this out, the staff member insisted it already contained the syrup. Only after asking a colleague did she realize it had been made incorrectly. They brought me a new matcha with white chocolate but this matcha also looked nothing like a proper matcha—it was just pale green milk with syrup (I didn't finish my drink as it wasn't really good) . The staff were not friendly and unwelcoming. I expected much better service and quality.”

“Lovely service in here - really enjoyed the cold brew with cold foam too!”

“The service felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. The employee took our order, walked away to make coffee, then came back asking for the order again and repeated the same thing after asking us to pay. Customers should not be left waiting and confused like this. It would be better to complete the order and payment first, then prepare the drinks.”

“Their coffee is really nice with active atmosphere. Their employee that always wears a beanie is extremely rude and disrespectful. This isn’t the first time this happens to me or to my friends. But now this reached to an out of line point. Threw me off. Rude staff is the last thing you want to deal with.”
