About The Perch
The Perch is a thatched-roof pub and restaurant on Binsey Ln in Oxford, set on the Thames and reached on foot by a riverside walk through Port Meadow. Visitors can also arrive by car from the other side. The front building houses the bar under low ceilings, and newer, modern areas sit alongside it. The kitchen cooks a daily fish special, with fish and chips and other seafood dishes on the menu. Gluten free, dairy free and vegan options are available. Mulled cider and beer are served. The Perch also hosts weddings.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the food, with the fish and seafood singled out, and the daily fish recommended by one diner. Fish and chips and a delicious dessert also get praise, and one reviewer highlights the gluten free, dairy free and vegan menu with flavour-filled dishes and puddings. Close behind is the setting: the walk along the river to get there, the garden and terrace, and a dog friendly outdoor area that suits hikers. Diners also mention the thatched front bar, a mulled cider, good beer and a beer festival. Servers are described as friendly and welcoming. The main complaint is value and a slow order. One reviewer found a goat cheese salad of leaves and broccolini sad for the money and called the food generally overpriced. That same table had a server forget the order, then get it wrong, so food arrived about 40 minutes after the drinks. One diner said the food left them a bit bloated afterwards.

“Nice pub and garden restaurant. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent although responsible for a bit of bloating afterwards 😂. Nice terrace with beautiful trees outside.”

“I went to quite a few pubs while in England, and this is by far my favorite one! Beautiful walk to get there, idyllic setting, food was the best I had in England, and the server was phenomenal!”

“Love it here. Visited on Saturday and it turned out they were having a beer festival. Lovely atmosphere, great beer, great food. Only downside was getting there because of the roadworks by the station, but that's not the pub's fault”

“The fish and chips were great, but unfortunately the goat cheese salad was a bit sad at £20 for some leaves and broccolini. We enjoyed our drinks but our server, albeit very friendly, forgot our order and then got the order incorrect and we didn’t receive our food until about 40 minutes after our drinks. Really wanted to enjoy but wasn’t the ideal experience. The food is generally a bit overpriced.”
