About The Three Goats Heads Pub
The Three Goats Heads Pub is a pub on St Michael's St in Oxford where every beer on tap is Sam Smith's, including a stout, a bitter and Sovereign. Signs at the door and inside mark it as a digital detox zone, asking guests to put their phones away and talk instead. Booths and tapestry chairs fill a Victorian-style interior. Two bars serve the room, one at street level and one downstairs, and the team opens the lower bar when the top one is full. The kitchen splits its menu into small dishes, large dishes and desserts, with schnitzel, fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding among the choices. The owners present it as a traditional pub rather than a restaurant, with food that sits alongside the drinks. Dogs are welcome, so regulars can bring their own company to the conversation.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the all-Sam Smith's beer range, singling out a stout, a traditional bitter, a cherry beer and a cold cider, with Sovereign on tap also mentioned. Close behind is the food, where diners name schnitzel, sausages with mash and gravy, fish and chips, a hummus plate and a burger, followed by sticky toffee pudding and apple and blackberry crumble. The "digital detox" signs encouraging conversation over screens come up repeatedly, and several describe friendly, welcoming staff, two bars on separate floors, booths, tapestry chairs and a Victorian, old England feel. A few mention a cool interior on warm days. One reviewer found the drinks really cheap. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who took off several stars because the bar lady spent much of her time outside vaping and chatting, leaving customers waiting, while another customer worked on a laptop the whole visit despite the signs. Another reviewer's visit ended with a pint of bitter described as gorgeous.

“We've stopped by to have a drink. I ended up having a cherry beer which was absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere is cozy, like old England. We've been on the upper floor.”

“I like a Sam Smith's, they are always beautiful pubs. For this one however I'm knocking several stars off for two reasons: There was a lady on her laptop the entire time we were there, and yes the bar lady was aware. The bar lady spend a lot of her time outside vaping/chatting, leaving us and other customers to wait.”

“They've air conditioning if you're visiting in the summer. Their staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Very funny with their no phone signs as they want to encourage conversation. Ordered a burger and thought it tasted great. Lovely decor choices as well and tables inside felt very private. Would be great for a date or a party.”

“Always visit when I’m in Oxford. Lovely pub, Connor who serves there is a great guy, easy to talk to and have a laugh with. Has got Sovereign on tap so even better. Two bars one upstairs and one downstairs. A decent range of Sam Smith drinks available to buy.”

“We enjoyed a cold pint of cider and soaked in the atmosphere of this fantastic old pub. A sign at the door which reads, "Digital detox zone - beer and conversation encouraged!" This is refreshing, just like the drinks. We loved the booths, decor and fantastic tapestry chairs. Also, drinks from the UK brewer Samuel Smith added to the experience.”
