About The Stanley Arms
The Stanley Arms is a pub on St Michael Rd in Ormskirk where dogs sit at the tables inside, and a play area outside gives children somewhere to spend their time. Real ales and other beers are on offer at the bar. The kitchen cooks traditional pub dishes, including steak and kidney pie, roast dinners and fish and chips. The building joins the older part of the pub to a newer extension room, which hosts groups and wedding receptions. The pub also has a function room.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the food, with hearty pub meals like the lasagne, steak and kidney pie with chips and veg, and traditional roast dinners with apple pie and custard drawing the most praise. Portions are described as generous, to the point that one diner managed only two courses. Close behind is the friendly, helpful staff, with one reviewer calling service quick and another saying they were not rushed. A good selection of real ales and a frozen daiquiri also get mentions. The newly built extension is described as spacious and suited to groups, with glass panels looking across to the church, while the older part of the pub is called cosy and full of character. Outside, reviewers mention parasols for shade and a play area for kids. The one real complaint is that the pub is very dog friendly: one diner objected to dogs on bench seats at dining tables and to staff patting dogs before delivering plates, and also found the food a little expensive for pub grub, including the fish and chips. Others list dog friendliness as a plus, and a group of ten sat together in the outer room with everyone clearing their plates.

“More than happy after our visit 10/10. We sat 10 people in the outer room with larhe glass panels with views of St Michael's across the road which was really nice. The food options are plentiful and the quality is brilliant. When you really crave that home cooking this is a perfect place to go. Lovely traditional roast dinners and deserts. Comfortable venue and space to sit outdoors.”

“Great friendly service from the lady behind the bar very helpful know her job very well will 110% be going back to try the food as it looks very nice indeed pub is very clean as outside seating and a function room i only had 2 drinks this time but I will be updating my experience when I go back next month to try the food... keep up the great work 👌👍”

“Great food and good portions. Though I'd give this pub a whirl as I cycle past it often and noticed it was having an extension/refurb. We were sat in the old part of the pub I think the new bit is a function room, but the old part has plenty of character (might have a nosey round the place next time) Could only manage 2 courses as the portions were generous. Great service, polite and friendly, not rushed or mithered (one of the young girls complimented my wife on her ring and dress) Recommend and will go again.”

“Visited the Stanley arms in the recent very hot weather, it was cool inside so you could enjoy your meal and drink. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely area outside to enjoy the sunshine with parasols for shade, bar in the outside to playing area for kids. Dog friendly too.”
