About The Ship Inn
The Ship Inn is a pub in Ormskirk, on Rosemary Lane just off the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. A bouncy castle in the beer garden gives children something to play on, and dogs are welcome inside. The kitchen serves traditional pub food, with gammon and fish and chips made with home-cooked chips on the menu. Sunday roast is available, including a sharing platter version. Beers are JW Lees, with cans of Neck Oil and Gamma Ray alongside. The team also takes enquiries for weddings, birthdays, wakes, Christmas parties and private hire for groups. A good-size car park sits at the pub.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the staff, describing barmaids who couldn't do enough and a team that kept smiling through a busy bank holiday, plus dogs being welcomed and offered water. Food draws close praise: the sharing platter Sunday roast, a sirloin steak with a home made mustard dressing on the side salad, soft garlic bread, crispy beef noodles, a burger, and home cooked chips. The canalside location and outdoor seating in sunny weather come up repeatedly, along with the JW Lees beers and cans of Neck Oil and Gamma Ray. The caveats are about portions and value. One local ordered the roast chicken with dauphinoise potatoes and got two roast potatoes in a portion compared to a kids menu, while another found the fish small beside good chips, and one called the food substandard for the money. A few also note a limited menu of traditional pub food. One family described loud music with explicit songs and a chaotic beer garden around the bouncy castle, though even that reviewer had no complaint about the staff.

“Fantastic location by the river. Staff were very pleasant and helpful with our request. Food was well cooked and tasty. Good value for money. Not a great variety of food on menu but traditional style pub food.”

“As a local not been in for a while but have to say the service and food was shocking, ordered the roast chicken with dauphanse potatoes got roast chicken with 2 roast potatoes felt too embarrassed to complain, my son had already asked for another egg on his gammon as the first one was over cooked. The portion size for my meal was akin to something off a kids menu, won't be going back any time soon.”

“Greeted by 3 lovely barmaids who couldn’t do enough for us and everyone for that matter. The food was delicious the garlic bread was so soft really enjoyed it. I got the Sirloin steak cooked medium rare now the steak come with chips and a grilled tomato and mushrooms I asked could I remove the tomatoes and mushrooms and have a side salad. Now a salad is a salad but the home made mustard dressing was absolutely delicious great staff great food great pub.”
