About Magna Charta
The Magna Charta is a pub on Southwell Rd in Nottingham, open daily, with a menu built around the flame grill. Steaks lead it, including ribeye and tomahawk cuts. Bang Bang cauliflower sits on the menu, and the Chicken Sharer platter comes with fried chicken. Live music runs on some evenings, performed by either a band or a solo act. On Fridays, the Fizz Friday offer puts bottles of fizz on the table. Tables can be reserved, and the pub fills up on busy evenings. Dogs are welcome inside, and football is shown on TV.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the service, with servers repeatedly described as friendly, helpful and attentive, and the team praised for handling a party of eight with allergies. Food comes close behind, with the tomahawk steak, Ribeye, mixed grill, chicken fajita and chicken and pepper skewer all getting praise. One diner calls the fried chicken in the Chicken Sharer tender and flavorful, alongside the Bang Bang cauliflower. Others mention generous portions and meals arriving hot and together. Fizz Friday and live music add to a cosy, relaxed atmosphere that reviewers also call dog friendly, with football on the television and no issue of being too loud or raucous. The one caveat is a Sunday lunch visitor who found the food ok, nowhere near home cooking, but passable. The detail that recurs in the praise is the extra effort made for groups: one server split a growing table into two separate bills and explained it clearly, and another let a party bring its own surprise birthday cake.

“We had visited for a celebration of our fathers birthday (who has passed) so you can imagine how we would've liked the day and the visit didn't fail to impress. The food was lovely, the area where we were seated was great and the service from the gent named Caine was nothing short of perfect, real credit to see such service from him. Thank you so much”

“We called into the Magna randomly for food on the early evening of Friday, 27th March 2026. The pub was busy (a good thing) and we were shown to a table. We were served throughout the evening by Michaela. She was excellent. She was polite, attentive, helpful, friendly and little did I know she’s only been working in her role for a couple of weeks or so. Such was her overall professionalism I actually thought she’d been working in her role for much longer. Later in the evening, and again unplanned, we were joined by a couple of friends on our table. Although we’d already eaten, they too were seeking food. Michaela split the table into A and B, keeping our billing separate and clearly explained what she’d done before then attending to their drinks/food order. Worked perfectly. The overall vibe in the pub throughout our visit (we ended up staying until gone 11pm) was excellent, enhanced with live music by James Parkes Music (he was brilliant) Upon settling my bill at the end of the evening I mentioned to the bar manager (and separately, to the licensee) that Michaela had been excellent throughout the evening to an extent that she enhanced our positive experience of our evening in The Magna last night.”

“We had a very welcoming and lovely service. We were a party of 8, celebrating a 40th birthday. The team being the lady on the phone when booking to the staff on the day especially our server Caine went out there way to accommodate all of us especially with allergies and letting us bring our own surprise birthday cake.”

“A very pleasant place! It was our first time here and we were really impressed. The atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, without any unnecessary fuss, exactly the kind of pub you want to come back to. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we felt comfortable from the very first minutes. The food was great, everything was tasty and fresh, and the portions were generous. A special thank you to our waitress, Sophie, who was especially lovely and made our visit even better. Overall, a fantastic pub for a relaxed evening, meeting friends, or just unwinding after a long day. We’ll definitely be coming back!”
