  “Disappointed with our most recent visit. We came a few weeks ago with our two year old and got two carvery’s, drinks and the free highchair bowl this was a lovely meal and we spent just over £40 So when our friends came down from London to visit we took them, this time we went large with our carvery’s, got the desert deal added along with our drinks and “free highchair bowl” it came to over £60. However when I looked at our bill I was charged for the highchair bowl, I questioned this after being given the receipt and was told it’s because we’d added the desserts on so it wasn’t valid. However looking at the menu it only says free highchair bowl with paying adult meal no t&c listed. - I also paid cash so refunding me wouldn’t have been an issue. Very disappointed with this false advertising, even though the highchair bowl isn’t a big cost it was very disappointing especially as we’d spent much more than our prior visit.”

  “A couple of times a month, me and my family have visited the Clock Tower since the refurbishment and have absolutely loved the setup. Being able to order on the screens, get a meal, dessert and bottomless drink for around £20 felt like great value. As a vegan, I really appreciated what The Clock Tower had to offer. Having options like a Wellington or nut roast, cut fresh at the carvery stand, genuinely made me feel included rather than like an afterthought. Unfortunately, we visited yesterday and were really disappointed to see the menu had completely changed and prices had gone up. The ordering screens had gone, there was no nut roast or Wellington, and my only vegan option was a vegetable tart — which I then had to wait 25 minutes for. My family, who eat meat, were also disappointed with the changes. They said the sausages tasted very cheap compared to before, and the broccoli and stuffing seemed poor quality. It’s a real shame to see a concept that worked so well changed so much. We used to really enjoy coming here, but sadly I don’t think we’ll be returning”

  “I'd rate the food around 4.5/5. Portions are generous, especially the meat, though sometimes it can be a bit dry-likely slightly overcooked. Other times, it's really good. This place is very family-friendly, with lots of kids around, making it a great spot to bring children and spend a relaxed afternoon. Service is friendly, the environment is clean, and there's a free car park with plenty of spaces, so it's usually easy to find parking.”

  “Attended Castle Carvery in Bowthorpe with a family group with the intention of having a lamb lunch but upon arrival was told there was no lamb on the menu but not to despair. The chap who served us was so helpful. Andrew indicated that there were some lovely things on the menu we could choose from and for the duration of the meal, he looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed. He could tell this was a special family occasion and made sure it absolutely was. Was a superb experience to which we'll be back. Hopefully Andrew will be working again then too.”

  “I used to regularly visit the clock tower, the food can be hit and miss but due to the play area the kids enjoy it. However in recent months our family have been unable to attend due to far right protests happening next to the venue. The protesters take it in turns eating and drink at castle. We are a family of colour and no longer feel safe dining there. While I understand there is little the restaurant can do about this, we have witnessed on several separate occasions the bar staff flouting their alcohol licence and serving the protesters drinks to take off properly to the protest. When questioned on this it became apparent that the staff were not even aware their licensing obligations. The restaurant could do more to re-establish their family friendly imagine, starting with not fuelling protestors with alcohol. I would give this place a hard miss if you are anything other than white British unfortunately. Update: The general manager took the time to call me this afternoon to discuss this further. Has assured me they are no longer serving protestors, allowing people to enter wearing flags or leave with drinks in plastic cups to limit the risks of antisocial behaviour. GM has also informed me that they have been hiring security but struggle to get a head of the protests as they are often last minute. While I maintain the staff have always been friendly and restaurant are trying to make dining with them a safer experience for guests; due to protesters shouting things like ‘beast’ at my young children and the intimidating atmosphere the new clientele bring, we won’t be returning until the protests die down.”

  “We come to the clock tower every Friday as our children loves playing in the soft play. Food is always good and comes out very quickly. The staff are very lovely and attentive and go above and beyond especially Kieron who served and looked after us while we were there! Perfect for the kids and for the adults to relax while they play! Highly recommend!”

  “I’ve been to some top restaurants and cleanliness here tops them all! Carvery was superb and the staff are 5 stars they all deserve a pay rise, all work extremely hard. Super size is massive couldn’t eat it all I did try haha. Highly recommend this place.”

  “The meal was tasty, and I enjoyed it. The carvery session had varieties of roast, and I had a bit of all. Spacious environment and kids would enjoy coming there, they is a play session for kids, which makes it easier to have your kids around. after dinning, they could have a good play outside. The service was also good.”
