Quick info
About The Waffle House
On St Giles St in Norwich, The Waffle House is a restaurant built around waffles, both sweet and savoury, with a wide choice of toppings. The savoury side bakes cheddar into the batter, as in the Cheese & Beans waffle. On the sweet side, the Pecan Nut Waffle comes with handmade butterscotch sauce. Vegan diners can order a jackfruit waffle, and the kitchen also makes low gluten waffles, or serves rice with any topping. Staff seat guests at a table, and a short wait is common when the restaurant is busy. A private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the waffles, especially savoury ones like the Halloumi & Hash Stack on a chilli and coriander waffle and the vegan jackfruit waffle, which one diner called generous and their first savoury waffle. Close behind are the Pecan Nut Waffle with handmade butterscotch sauce, the Danish spiced apple, and a Smoked Salmon & Eggs plate. Portions are repeatedly described as big, with a kids' waffle of banana and chocolate ice cream nearly finished by a young diner. Vegan, vegetarian and low gluten choices come up, along with staff who were friendly and helpful with allergens. The main criticisms are a cramped, oddly arranged room with toilets upstairs through the outside, and a short wait to be seated. One reviewer found a blueberry and maple waffle nothing special, with limited waffle options and a dish that looked thrown together, and another said the Easter special's mini eggs were a lesser substitute. One family asked for a small decaf oat milk mocha, and it arrived with a smiley face on top.

“We had an incredible breakfast for four at The Waffle House in Norwich, where everyone’s individual dish was absolutely packed with flavour. My Halloumi & Hash Stack served on a vibrant chilli and coriander waffle was a spectacular explosion of taste, perfectly balanced by smashed avocado, charred pepper salsa, and a kick of maple sriracha dressing. For a beautifully fresh, classic option, my mother had the Smoked Salmon & Eggs. This was elevated by a delicious melting dill-infused butter, while my father’s Cheese & Beans waffle - featuring mature cheddar baked right into the batter - definitely hit the spot. For those with a sweet tooth, like my partner, the decadent Pecan Nut Waffle came drenched in a rich, velvety handmade butterscotch sauce that was to die for. Paired with our expertly brewed lattes, cappuccino, and Americano, it was a flawless morning out for all of us. We cannot wait to return!”

“Delicious waffles with loads of creative choices of toppings (both sweet and savoury)! I had the Danish spiced apple and it was perfectly spiced, and a perfect freshly squeezed orange juice. There are vegan waffles available and plenty of veggie options, low gluten waffles (or choose rice with any topping) and even alt breakfast-style options for those who want something else. The staff were friendly and warm, and really helpful with allergens. We'll be back!”

“What a lovely spot in Norwich. This is now one of our favourite spots to eat. We visited yesterday 06.05.26 and the food was really good. I had the big breakfast and my wife had the Mushroom stack, fresh ingredients and quality meat used. Our young son came along and had a waffle, with banana, chocolate ice cream and sauce, the portion size for kids is huge, really good value for money. He smashed through nearly all of it. My son likes Mocha's so we asked if they could do a small one, decaff and with oat milk, this was no problem at all. They even put a smiley face on top of the drink. He can't wait to return and same as us. Clara was our waitress and she was really friendly and polite. They have toilets, but you have to leave the building and go through the door to the left and up the stairs, but this shouldn't put anyone off. The three off is had food and drinks and it came to just over £40, good value for the portion sizes and the quality of food. Thank you.”
