About Yard
Yard is a pasta-focused restaurant and bar on Pottergate in Norwich, built around a short menu of handmade pasta dishes. The kitchen plates rigatoni and pappardelle rather than chasing a broad Italian range, with options that include nduja with mascarpone and lemon, and a shin beef ragu. A starter of sourdough with garlic butter opens the meal. The room runs as a walk-in only, with no table bookings taken, and afternoon opening catches a slot when few other Norwich kitchens are serving. Front-of-house staff keep things relaxed, and the bar carries the same easy approach through the evening. Dogs are welcome inside, so the front tables tend to fill with people passing through with their dogs alongside single diners and groups working their way through the pasta list.

“Without a doubt, the best place to have pasta in Norwich!”

“Been to Yard quite a few times now and Monday afternoon's meal was just as good as the others. We went at around 4pm, when decent food options in Norwich can be pretty limited, and it was exactly what we wanted. The sausage and fennel rigatoni was excellent, as was the nduja pappardelle. Really good pasta, full of flavour and reasonably unfussy. Service was friendly, relaxed and suited the place perfectly. I’m slightly baffled by some of the bad reviews complaining that you can’t book a table. It's not a three-Michelin-star restaurant. The casual, walk-in feel is part of the appeal. Thank you chefs and FOH.”
