About Granary Stores
Granary Stores is a cafe on Ranworth Staithe in Norwich, set in an old malting and grain store that has been converted. Moorings beside the broad are managed by the Broads Authority, which puts the cafe within reach of visitors arriving by boat. Upstairs, a gift shop and an art gallery share the building. The lunch menu includes a crayfish baguette, and the cake selection runs to rhubarb and custard cake and hummingbird cake. The kitchen also serves a full English breakfast, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, scones and coffee. The shop sells duck food, biscuits, souvenirs and boat supplies, and it has its own entrance, separate from the cafe door.

Customer Review Summary
Cakes are what reviewers return to most, with the rhubarb and custard cake named repeatedly, alongside the humming bird cake and a courgette and lime cake that one reviewer calls odd-sounding but delicious. Close behind are the savoury plates: a crayfish baguette and crayfish salad, jacket potatoes described as good value, and a Full English praised for its thick bacon, free range eggs and real butter on the toast. Scones and coffee also get favourable mentions. Staff are described again and again as friendly, with one reviewer noting a server who chatted while taking orders and clearing cups. The setting beside the broad, with open windows, outdoor tables and moorings for boaters, features often, as do the gallery upstairs and a gift shop where boaters stock up. The one stumble came from a visitor who walked into the shop instead of the cafe, which sits around the other side, and ended up having lunch at the pub. Several reviewers add that the ducks outside like to be fed, and the shop sells duck food.

“Absolutely lovely little cafe and tearoom beside Malthouse Broad. There are Broads Authority managed moorings if you visit by boat and a small car park if you visit by car. I visit on my bike. Lovely food, superb location and an amazing friendly team of staff. Highly recommended”

“Made the mistake of waking into the shop instead of the cafe so we went to the pub for lunch instead as didn’t realise it was around the other side, shop however was a great size and had a great selection especially for the boats coming through for a decent stock up! Nice selection of products for souvenirs too!”

“Friendly and accessible place for lunch sat by the open windows enjoying the broad. Jacket potatoes were good value and the cake was spectacular.”
