  “Really poor experience in contrast to the other fantastic meals we have had in North Norfolk on our week long trip. Uninspiring pub needing some TLC. Blandest food I think we have ever had. The two main dishes we wanted on the online menu (our sole reason for choosing the pub) were not on the menu when we got there and then when we chose alternatives from the paper menu we were told these were not available either. We started with the short rib arancini which looked great and were well cooked but couldn't taste any short rib so just tasted of risotto rice. My wife then had the fish pie which was dry, no hint of the supposed parsley sauce and was basically loads of mashed potato with a bit of cheese over the top, a few prawns and a bit of salmon, so again very bland. I went with the liver and bacon which came with a silky, rich looking sauce but completely lacked any flavour. The liver was fairly rubbery and had no flavour whatsoever and even the bacon was devoid of flavour. The mash it came with was dry and again not seasoned with anything. We asked for some mustard to give our dishes some pep but even this could not rescue us from the sea of bland, flavourless food. We didn't dare try any dessert and paid up and left. Thoroughly disappointing night out. Reviews of the pub seemed good so not sure what happened to their chef last night but we won't be back and won't be recommending to any friends or family.”

  “Birthday meal on Saturday. Had to wait over an hour for food. Half the menu they didnt have. Especially veggie choices and only 2 Dessert. Found hair in steak and kidney pie Would not return there again”

  “Visited multiple times during our 10 day stay in Norfolk, wonderful food every time (highly recommend the Sunday roast). The staff were lovely and welcoming. Dog friendly area and family friendly.”

  “Phenomenal! Visiting Norfolk from Hull for a few days and gutted to have only visited on our last night. When I tell you I will be thinking about the food for years I mean it… honestly contemplating taking the 8 hour round trip next week just to have my Sunday lunch here. We had steak and kidney pudding, pork belly, and a pavlova to share, and I don’t have a single criticism. The young man behind the bar was lovely, really helpful and polite. Dog friendly, good beer, and a great atmosphere! A really lovely little local, that I’m sad isn’t in fact local to me!”

  “How have I waited so long before visiting? A lovely roast dinner in a very generous portion, followed by a delicious dessert. Service was spot on within a lovely relaxing atmosphere”
