  “We had a fantastic visit to The Wheatsheaf. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout, and the service was brilliant. There were 6 adults, 2 children and 1 puppy in our group, and we were made to feel very welcome. All of our food came out quickly and, impressively, arrived together despite the size of our group. The tempura prawns were absolutely delicious, and the portion sizes were very generous. The house curry was also really tasty and went down very well. Overall, a great pub with excellent food, fantastic service and a really welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!”

  “Popped in for a light lunch, staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Service and food was excellent and so were the choice of beers, I had the Harvest Glow which was fresh on that day, it was superb. We’ll definitely be back for an evening meal as their menu looked really good with plenty of vegetarian options.”

  “Really great B&B. Smashing value. Lovely clean rooms. We were traveling with a dog and there were some lovely touches like biscuits, bowls and blankets in the room. The pub was packed on a Tuesday night for food. Great value pub food and well priced drinks. The staff were all lovely. Met one of the owners and they keep this local pub alive without drawing a wage so there is a local pub that also helps sustain other local breweries and local industry.”

  “What a great traditional pub! Owned by locals in the village you really get a true warm welcome! Food is delicious and I can thoroughly recommend the Sunday roast, best I've had in any pub, plus their keylime pie is simple the best! If you are looking for a proper pub with great beers, good honest food and lovely staff.... then come to The Wheatsheaf!”

  “Just visited for a Sunday roast. If you plan to do the same then forsake breakfast - the servings are huge! Meals were fantastic, meat and veg just right. Welcomed on arrival and politely told we were too early for food but welcome to drinks - which gave us the opportunity to enjoy the large and pleasant garden while we waited. Fresh flowers on each table, lovely country feel to the bar and public areas. Good friendly service. Very good value - beef roast £19 and worth every penny. Huge yorkshires. I'd advise against ordering sides - simply because the roast is likely to leave you with no room for them. Absolutely a star venue - one we happened upon by chance returning to Holt from Sherringhsm: just followed the signs from the main road. Intend to revisit before holiday over. See photo of the yorkshire side dish that I just could not eat after the first one beat me. Lovely.”

  “We enjoyed lovely food especially the pies with very friendly and efficient service. We found the Wheatsheaf after some of the staff members stopped and assisted us when we had a flat tyre. Charlie (U) gave us a lift home after two younger employees stopped to help. We were very grateful for their assistance and a for delicious meal.”

  “Called in to have a Pie as I had been told they are superb. Saw another customer have a Chicken Curry, so changed my mind, and what a good decision it was! Without doubt the best curry I have ever had in a pub! Well done Chef, absolutely first class.”

  “We have been holidaying in the area 3 times a year for the last 15 years as we love Norfolk. Have visited the Wheatsheaf for meals for the last two years and always felt welcome. Unfortunately last night our visit was a big disappointment. It was the last night of our holiday and we booked a table for five to say goodbye to out Norfolk friends until we come again in November. We had enjoyed a meal on the Monday before with our friends and had been served by two lovely young servers who were so friendly and helpful. We booked the same table for the Friday and looked forward to another enjoyable evening. Sadly when we arrived we were told our booked table had been changed by an older female server. We expressed we were unhappy with this however she she said she couldn't fit us all in the fenced area that we had previously sat in earlier in the week. She was not welcoming and seemed irritated by our reaction. We sat at a the table that had the sun shining directly on us looking out of a dirty window and at the backs of the music entertainers. We ordered one course and left immediately after finishing. When paying the bill we said we had been unhappy. To add insult to injury the table we had originally booked had not been reserved by anyone else . We will not be visiting the Wheatsheaf again and will go elsewhere where we are made to feel more welcome.”

  “Can't find fault with any aspect of our two day stay...! Busy bank holiday weekend the place was crammed but all the staff kept a cool head and remained very efficient. Manager was very helpful and calm, Charlie behind the bar was brilliant (such a polite and efficient young man), food was superb. Our room was spacious and not lacking (comfy firm mattress). Location is very convenient for Norfolk 'hot spots'. We're definitely coming back here next time in Norfolk...!!”
