About The Wheelwright's Arms
The Wheelwright's Arms is a family-run village pub on Church St in Northampton, a walk up from the canal. The bar is very small, while the garden is large. Food comes from rotating local pop-up outlets, so the offering changes from night to night. One of them serves Thai food, and its Thai menu includes a couple of non-Thai options. Pizzas and curry have also been served. Real ale is poured at the bar. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the Thai food, which several call excellent and good quality, served from rotating pop-up outlets alongside a couple of non-Thai options and a curry one diner found great. Close behind are the hand-made pizzas, praised by two reviewers, and the real ale and beer. The pub is described as a friendly, family-run village spot with a very small cozy bar, a large garden and a welcome for dogs. The landlady comes in for particular warmth, and one reviewer likes its relaxed, country feel after a walk up from the canal. The main complaints concern access and welcome. One walker arrived mid-afternoon on a weekday expecting a cold drink and found it closed, saying it seems hardly ever open, while another notes it opens only on certain days and suggests checking ahead on which evenings food is served. One reviewer who liked the pizzas found the bar staff very unwelcoming, without a smile or a pleasant word, in contrast to the friendliness others describe.

“Lovely location, great pizzas from friendly people, but sadly the bar staff were very unwelcoming. Not a smile or pleasant word.”

“What a lovely village pub. So dog friendly, just a treat for us and our pooch! We had a pizza which was obviously made by hand with pride. And it ate very very well too. The landlady was especially pleasant. Worth the walk up from the canal. Pretty village too.”
- KZ Raven
“Love this little bit of seclusion and nishness, not tried the food, but from what I hear, it's very good”
- Mike Taylor
“Stopped overnight nearby so popped in for a drink. Great sociable pub, staff (family run) very friendly, food varies each night with pop-up local food outlets, we had the Thai which was excellent. Recommend a visit. Only open Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays if Bank Holiday weekend.”
