About Allard's Lounge
Allard's Lounge is a tapas bar and wine bar on Front St in Tynemouth village, North Shields, and it presents itself as the original tapas cafe in the village. The tapas menu pairs black pudding bon bons with celeriac mash, and red Thai gambas sit among the other small plates. For a larger plate, the kitchen makes steak frites with sirloin. Brunch is served as well, so the bar works for daytime visits as well as evenings. It is open daily. Midweek wine offers run alongside a cocktail list, including a deal where two large glasses earn the rest of the bottle free.

Customer Review Summary
Steak and frites is the dish reviewers raise most, with diners praising proper sirloin that was well seasoned, beautifully cooked and served piping hot. Close behind are the tapas, where black pudding bon bons, meatballs, patatas bravas, red Thai gambas and bang bang cauliflower wings are named, and portions are called generous, with three tapas more than enough for one person. A bacon Benedict and fish and chips also earn praise, and one reviewer mentions midweek wine offers and great cocktails. The complaints are more detailed. One Sunday evening diner waited a long time for a drinks order, was told eight tapas items were unavailable, including patatas bravas and padron peppers, and saw a party of six turned away. Another reports sticky tables, flies around every table, greasy meat paella and watery white wine. A family found the Sweet Korean chicken soggy and unexpectedly spicy. One brunch group faced a wait of over an hour after a chef failed to show, and staff offered a refund and a voucher for the following month.

“Love Allard's, been here several times when visiting Tynemouth and it never fails. Daughter and I had the fish and chips. Hubby had the chilli beef salad. Not badly priced and great food. I didn't put the salt on, chef did so don't come for me 😂I knocked some off.”

“Two of us arrived on a Sunday evening at around 7.30pm. There wasn't many in the restaurant dining. We waited an absolute age for someone to come and take our drinks order. Tbf they arrived very quickly when we finally managed to do so. There were 8 items from the tapas menu that were unavailable, including patatas bravas and pardon peppers. Not a great start to be advised of this! Food arrived reasonably quick and was generally good and hot. Quite expensive too with the meat tapas averaging out at around £9.00 each. There definitely appeared to be a shortage of staff unfortunately and the ones who were on duty lacked any kind of customer service skills. A party of 6 showed up not long after we had arrived and they were tuned away. I personally wouldn't wish to go back.”

“Me and family enjoyed a light lunch here. The place is cosy and spacious. The staff were efficient and polite. We mostly had tapas dishes including the truffle parmesan fries, prawns, patatas bravas, padron peppers and korean chicken. The chicken batter went soggy due to the sauce coating them. The sauce was very enjoyable until the spice kicked in. The sauce was 'Sweet Korean' so I didn't expect them to be hot and the menu should state that. I don't enjoy spicy food so that significantly lowered my enjoyment of my food unfortunately. My Dad had the sausage sandwich which came with plenty of caramelised onions and nice chunky chips. He was really happy with his choice. Overall it was decent value and good quality food.”
